L-Tryptophan, the real stuff, not the 5-HTP, might work for you. Only a few manufacturers in the US make real L-Tryptophan. Overseas producers are not allowed to import the stuff into the US after the big 80's controversy regarding tainted L-Tryptophan.
L-Tryptophan was prescribed by many healthcare providers before Prozac was introduced in the 80's. Take at night as it may make you sleepy. L-Tryptophan produced by Lidtke is probably the purest available in the US, but you'll pay $$$$ for it. Don't be tempted to go with the 5-HTP version, it just doest work the same.
L Phenylalanine is also another possibility, but it is used more commonly for depression caused by chronic pain.
Either way, go with the most costly product you can afford. I recommend Lidtke for the Tryptophan and Thorne Research for the L Phenylalanine . Remember, the most expensive supplement is the one that doesn't do anything for you, usually the leastly costly one.

MARIJUANA is natures best - - - however if yoiu have been pre-sold on the Evangelical Christian belief that Mary Jane is evil and far worse that batu/ice/meth - - - then the legal alternatives would be; damiana leaf either as a tea or smoked; lavender wich is harsh to smoke, best burnt as an incence; St John's Wort, as noted - - - also Chamomile which is often served up as a tea - - - and yes exercise & proper diet are important. Cannot over emphasize YOGA tehcniques for breathing & meditation.

S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe) is a substance synthesized in the body from the amino acid, methionine
SAMe has been proven effective in every type of depression, and seems particularly good for the endogenous form, where people are depressed without any apparent external cause. Even people with depression so severe they were contemplating electroshock therapy (ECT), have been "saved" by SAMe. Bipolar depression (manic depressive) may be an exception to SAMe's otherwise good record. SAMe can cause some people with this type of depression to switch from depression to mania. This effect does not always occur.
SAMe's anti-depressant effect begins anywhere from immediately to 5 weeks. Most patients benefit within 4 days, which is faster than most antidepressant drugs.
See website for info and research.

There are 2 things that are a guarantee fix for depression: eating and exercising. I recommend making small changes; eliminate dairy from your diet and that will do wonders! (I used to be a dairy lover, but I gave it up). Also, soda and any type of food/junk that is high in sugar or made of processed "Stuff" should be eliminated. Finally, exercising is the best activity. It helps your mind and body feel healthier. I learned this information by personal research and then implementing it. I lost weight, depression, and feel naturally energized.

Yes, plenty or alternatives that do not involve taking any medications.
1. Sit in the sun between 10am - 3pm for at least until your skin starts to turn red. (Natures way of telling you you have had enough Vitamin D for the moment) Fresh air is also important.
2. Wear yellow for clarity of thought & concentration, this will also positively lift your emotions. Wearing orange will invigorate you and give you the energy to 'get up and go'
3. It will help to also add yellow and orange foods to your diet. Preferably fresh fruit & vegetables.
Good luck.

Recreation, excellent quality food and a good night sleep. It has been demonstrated that a excellent food regimen can help eleviate despair. John Wort's must only be taken on the advice of your GP as no longer everybody is suitable to natural cures. That being mentioned the entire above can praise the effects of prescription drugs...Permitting you to be weaned off of those medications faster rather than later. Not ever ever just discontinue taking your remedy..Constantly ask your healthcare professional for a tapered procedure in the event you wish to return off of them.

Two excellent discussions with many options are to be found in:
Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine - Murray & Pizzorno
Prescription for Natural Healing - Balch & Stengler
Depression is a serious condition however, and you should not try to treat yourself. A licensed ND would be a good idea if you want to try this approach.

I heard about ST JOHN's WORT
St Johns Wart (St Johns Wort) has a 2,400 year history of safe and effective use. Hippocrates even used the St Johns Wart (St Johns Wort) himself!
Today more than 50% of depression, anxiety and sleep disorders are apparently treated with St Johns Wart (St Johns Wort ) in Germany.
In fact, the use of St Johns Wart (St Johns Wort) by the British public is estimated to be increasing at a rate of 2000% each year!

Better than St.john's Wort is the African herb Sceletium tortuosum = Buy it & use it & see how it will help. don't ask your doctor's blessing - just take it & control your own life & your own health. Stop the toxic chemicals ASAP. Also try the herb Rhodiola Rosea. This works perfectly with Sceletium tortuosum.
Best wishes.
