I'm decorating the pulpit area of our church as a western town for bible school and I need something to cover most of the deep red carpeting with. I want something that will look like dirt but be durable enough to walk on. I've thought about plain brown craft paper. What ideas do you have?

So I love making interesting projects, however I'm running low on ideas at the moment. I'm looking for more projects that you can build and have alot of fun with. And I'm hoping to keep the budget to projects that cost under $100 (unless its a reeeeally awesome project). And preferrably something that doesn't take a whole lot of time to build, maybe 1-5 hours total work time (not counting breaks, letting glue dry, etc.

Some of the things I've built recently are some awesome Potato Cannons, A trash can sized Air-Zooka, Skim board, Various padded beating sticks (sort of like american gladiators), Water rockets. Diet coke/mentos devices, Fire wire (lighting steel wool and spinning it).

So thats the type of stuff I like. Anyone know any ideas of any others I should try. Or also know any great sites online with plenty of ideas?

My husband's aunt died recently & we found a hoard of old coins in jars all over her house. There are alot of halves, quarters & dimes - Walking Liberty, Ben Franklin, Kennedy, Mercury, Roosevelt and a few Eisenhoiwer dollars. How do I know which ones are silver and what the silver content is? I've done some research on coins but I am not a collector. I want to categorize the coins and make some "starter sets" for my grandchildren so any help would be GREATLY appreciated for my little "future coin collectors".

The craft fair is in a couple months; I primarily make handmade soap (from scratch), beaded jewelry, and refrigerator magnets. I also try to make little kitschy knick-knacks too. Does anyone have advice on setting up my booth in a way to successfully attract people to come and browse (or hopefully buy something?) Or any suggestions on small projects that can be sold inexpensively? All suggestions are welcome! Thanks everyone!

Where can I find " how to read the knitting and quilting abbreviations? I want something that explains what the abbreviations are and how to apply them. I looked &can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for. I want to know how to do the abbreviations. I knit and crochet some but, I want to expand my abilities.

I've been making ballon art for years, but I've never done it for a crowd and much less for a bunch of rowdy ten year olds. So I'm looking for suggestions about what kind of balloon sculptures I should make that don't take so long to put together. Nothing complex because I don't want to feel pressured by trying to do it fast and I don't want the kid to get bored while I'm doing it. So far I know I want to make simple 3 balloon flowers, 2 balloon hats, 1 balloon sword, 2 balloon bumblebees, 1 balloon teddy bears, maybe a 4 balloon frog hat, and a 1 balloon heart. So any suggestions as to what I should add to my list? Preferably stuff that I can make that won't require more than 3 balloons.

Oh, and for the professionals out there: What do you talk about with the kids while you make them their balloon sculpture? I don't want to just stand there making something without talking to them; that's akward. I want some interaction, but I don't know what to say to them. Any tips?

Thank you!

Ok so my son took my father's collection and buried them in the ground. Now, 2 yrs later, he told me about it and the pennies and nickles are green with mildew. they are old pennies and nickles my father had been collecting before he passed. I dont know their value except that they are old but sentimental value is what they are mostly to me. How can I take the mildew off?

I started scrapbooking in the last year and love it. As I have horrible handwriting, so I would like to use computer print-outs. I would also like to use photos printed at my computer. Here's the question. I know it's important to use acid and lignin free items in a scrapbook. Are computer printed items (such as photos and messages) scrapbook safe? Is it usually the paper or ink that is unsafe? If they aren't safe, is there a special safe photo-paper or ink available?
