My mother, who was prolific in sewing and making artys fartsy things for church and was always sewing things, (making alterations on my clothes and other peoples clothes, etc) bought and saved lots and lots of boxes of fabric scraps, ranging from 1/2 a yard up to several yards of some fabrics. And now I get to have them, as she is downsizing her house. Any money making ideas ou there for me? I have 2 girls, 7 & 8, who migth take up sewing soon (perhaps when grandma gives up her machine), so I want them to make things for people, either to sell or as gifts. I could give them to Goodwill, but I fead they might just get tossed out as opposed to recycled (they don't do that here with fabrics yet). I don't want to waste it all,

There will be three boys- a 3 1/2 year old, and two 5 year olds.
We will be making 'Spongebobs' out of yellow sponges, yellow chenille stems, googly eyes, red yellow and brown felt, a little black fabric paint, and some glue.

I have Elmer's, fabric, and hot glue. I prefer not to use the hot glue if I can help it, since the boys can't use it themselves. I'll precut pieces of felt for them to make Spongebob's shirt, pants, and tie with. I intend to stick one chenille stem all the way through the body and trim it (arms) probably myself beforehand. Another will be cut and attached for legs.

So what would you suggest? Are my ideas too hard for the boys? Or am I doing too much of it myself? Do you think it will work? Or is there something I should change? I'm open to all ideas and suggestions.

Valentine's Day is coming up and I always make homemade Valentine cards. This year I don't really seem as into it, but I still want to make them for my kids and husband. So I need some cute idea's they will like.

My son is 3, daughter is 1 (she won't notice).

(I also like idea's that involve the kids making cards for other people.)

I am making a queen size quilt and will use the "Quilt as you go" method. Has anyone every used this method? Opinions? And whenever I buy thread I notice "quilt thread" also on spools in the display/kiosk. What is the difference? I have asked the clerks at the fabric store and they dont know.

Is there any software I can download to a flash drive to take to a different computer that doesn't require an internet connection and that doesn't cost any money? I just want to be able to make a few photos on my home computer into cross-stitches.

I like the internet ones, but I don't have internet at home and would like to be able to transfer them on my home computer.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not planning on committing any crimes, it just strikes me as a useful skill, you know, like changing a tire or plumbing. I know you can buy kits, but where can you really learn how to use them?

I am interesting in transferring a message onto a soap bar as a gag gift. I had a friend that used to do this, but I don't speak with her anymore to find out how she did it. I just need a temporary solution to putting printed text on soap; it can wash off, I don't care. Any suggestions on how to do this? I was thinking maybe wax paper might transfer it, but I'm not sure.

I am looking to transfer ACTUAL PRINTED TEXT...so please no smart alec remarks on writing on the soap itself with a Sharpie or scratching it into the soap or whatever.
