Anyone have any good websites or books to refer to? I'm just getting started, and I'm not sure what tools/things I need to start out. Any help is appreciated!

Dont let anyone tell you you must get everything at once buy what you need slowly There are a number of scrapbook sites [www. simplescrapbooks ... do a search not sure of web name//] is a great site as it a number you can link from that site.... anyway you must get acid free everything as acid paper will eventually eat everything into nothingness. To start with i suggest maybe looking for a kit on a topic you'd like to do [like a holiday youv'e taken it would have almost everything you'll need apart from photos ] or otherwise the basics are photos, acidfree adhesive, paper, stickers and scrapbook pages I never buy an album stright up i make up most of my pages before i go looking ... i keep them in a clean pizza box to keep them flat I use to buy the album first then found it did not fit with the book i wanted so i wasted my money as it sat for ages till i found a use for it You can keep adding bits and pieces to what you use My pages are very very simple and the photos are the star others make pages that just have a 'wow' factor but thats not for me the pickies are the main focus its up to the person what they do there is never a right and wrong way to do scrapbook I was almost turned off by one class that told me i had to do it a certain way and it was not a way that suited me
hope this helps i tried to keep brief its a big subject there are heaps of mags out there browse a newagent or library

I started "scrapbooking" by buying one of those "Kits" at Hobby Lobby. Was a great way to start scrapbooking, the instructions told me exactly what to do with what, where to put things, etc. Now, I just buy a scrapbooking magazine every now and then, and get some ideas. It really is great. I've only been doing this since Nov (did 3 Xmas presents). Not that I'm a pro, but hey, what I'm doing people like, so I guess it's ok, nothing fancy, just something special....

Try going to a store like Micheal's, Hobby Lobby or Jo-Anns Fabrics if you have them in your area. They have a great selection of scrapbooking supplies, kits and beginners books. That's how I got started and am now hooked on scrapbooking. Hope this helps. Have fun!

i think you should start out with something from the past. a movie ticket, picture, hell even a copy of your birth certificate.
