My grandma used to ship us these candies Tourini, Toroni. something like that. They are white candies that come in a blue box. They are a nougat with nuts with a thin wafer on them; they come in (flavors, not colors) orange, lemon, and vanilla.

If you know what I'm talking about and/or a site I could order them from. please let me know. And no, I can't ask her. She died in 1985.

My aunt was telling me that turkey (not just thanksgiving) is strictly an american food and you can't find turkey anywhere else in the world. I find it hard to believe that no one anywhere else in the world would domesticate turkeys.

I mean, you can't get a Turkey Sandwich anywhere else in the world.

Okay, this is my 1st yr cooking a turkey. I saw Emeril on Live w/Regis & Kelly doing a cajun injected turkey and I kinda like spicy stuff but my family doesnt, Emeril said it was not so spicy it was over powering, which i thought would be perfect. Well i tried the recipe, unfortunately i did not have a flavor injector so I simply marinated the turkey in the marinade over night. The aroma from the oven is 2 much, it almost smells sickly sweet, but in a bad way. What can I do to salvage this poor bird. Much thanks in advance for all suggestions!!

If I take a "meat" metal spoon or fork, and take mayonnaise out of the jar, is the jar of mayonnaise now "meat?" or does the mayonnaise jar remain parve? Thanks.

How long do spcies and herbs keep their freshness? They do not have an expiration date on them; so, what is the trick to telling if they are fresh and strong enough to use in a recipe?
Just smell them?? Can they go bad, where it is not best to use them?

what in your culture/country has the specific food for specific holiday?
back in Taiwan, we have moon cake for mid-Fall festival; or the moon festival; summer we have leaf-wrapped sticky rice for dragon-boat festival and rice-flour cake for chinese new year.

It's on the table at most California Mexican restaurants. I'm wracking my brain - can't think of the name ... starts with a 'T' (not Tobasco) or maybe a 'C'.

A couple of years ago a friend had me for dinner. Her husband, who was hispanic, was a fantastic host and cook. He made different kinds of tamales that he ate during the holidays when he was growing up. Some were beef, pork etc. But he made what he called "sweet tamales" that were excellent! It seems as if they had fruit, brown sugar, coconut and nuts in in them?

My friends are out of touch until after the holidays now but I'd love a good recipe for these. Please only respond if you have tried and true recipes you've made yourself. Thanks!!
