try 香片 (xiang pian) which is a kind of chinese jasmine tea (green tea), or 铁观音 (tie guan yin) which is a kind of oolong tea. these are the two most common tea used in chinese restaurants due to wide acceptance by novice tea drinkers.

铁观音 has different grades, and they can test very different. so even if you get the right tea, but if the grade is wrong, you still won't get the taste you want.

most Chinese Restaurants don't serve green tea. Japanese restaurants do. Most Chinese Restaurant serve either Jasmine or just simple black tea. Some nice ones will service high quality Oolong Tea. So check out those three and see which one is the one that you like. Black tea is the cheapest and Oolong is very expensive (also depends on the quality you get too, some cost over $100 per pound).

There are many types of teas.

Typically in Chinese restaurants they serve oolong teas or bonay teas (which is a "black" tea also known as pu-erh tea).
Also, I've seen Jasmine tea or Chrysanthemum teas.

If you have a favorite restaurant, you can ask them or ask them to show you the package.

the brand shouldnt make a total difference in taste. maybe one of them is artificial. i use to drink green tea boba at this one cafe, but it was all artificial. then i switched onto this place where they use real tea and fruits. the real ones taste so much better. but maybe you are liking the chinese restaurants more.
