How will you be spending Christmas Day? Will you be able to enjoy a nice meal, or will you be sitting amongst meat-eaters, watching them eat dead animals? I live in France, and Christmas meal here mean foie gras and lobsters boiled alive. This year I'm lucky though, I will be able to avoid that kind of meal, and my Christmas will be 100% vegan! How about you?

Have you ever tried making your Sushi and did it turn out well?

Mine turned out perfectly as in taste but I still have to get the hang of rolling everything together perfectly.
I bought a Sushi making kit from one of my local supermarkets.

Why do most people drink milk with their meals?

Just wondering. It seems like I'm one of very few who didn't grow up drinking milk with every meal. It was always more of a stand-alone drink or something for breakfast or with desert. I think it's really nasty to drink milk (any kind of milk - soy, rice, cow's, whatever) with most lunch/dinner foods but I know a lot of people wash down chili dogs, pizza, sandwiches and the like with a big glass of milk. I don't get the milkshake with a hamburger thing either - gross. Milk is why I always brought my lunch to school - can't they give the kids a glass of freaking water? Can someone please explain the tradition of milk with every meal?

what are Protein – animals?

Proteins can be divided in to animals or vegetables. High biological value proteins are another name give to animal protein. The reason why it is called high biological proteins is because they contain all the eight essential amino acids which are including meat, fish, cheese and eggs. In contrast plants are called low biological values protein because it deficient in more then one of the essential amino acids. If these two proteins are added together it becomes a complete protein. An example of this is baked beans and toast. Bread if deficient in one or two amino acids and beans are deficient in another amino acid together they give a complete protein meal.

A question about the vegetarian community?

I've been thinking a lot about cutting meat out of my diet, for health reasons mostly, but of course also because I do not want to support the current meat industry.

The last few years I went from regular meat to free range and biological meat, eggs and milk.

I have just one concern. And it's silly. But it's still a concern. I know I won't be able to do it all in one day and I have to take baby steps. My goal is to cut out all meats, but to continue eating dairy and eggs (free range of a local farm). I've been researching and reading a lot about a healthy diet, about the community and have seen a lot of people voice their opinions.

Here's the concern, do vegetarians and/or vegans look down on people who eat meat or on flexitarians or those that eat dairy or eggs? I see some pretty harsh comments around and it's for me a block in taking the step, because I don't judge people and dont want to be part of such a judging community.

for people who advocate a vegan lifestyle i would like to know why they are opposed to milk and dairy products. i mean as long as the animals are treated humanely in the milking process what is so wrong with it?

Help! Dietition said " you must stop your veggie diet or you'll die".?

I've been a vegetarian for a long time now and I feel weaker, but my mind feels free. I went to the doctor because I've had a weakened heart and liver. I took all necessary minerals and stuff while eating a Vegan/Vegetiarian diet. My Dietition told me that I must stop teh Vegetarian diet and balance my meals with lean meats INCLUDED> help?

vegan and vegatarians..........?

ok so im a vegatarian, and its hard enough because no one in my family is, and a few of them are completly stupid about it and joke around and make fun about it, but latly ive decided i want to become a vegan. and when i told them this, no one is supportive about it, and they all say negative things about. i just want to know how any of you vegans out there deal with it, that is if you happen to be dealing with a family like mine. and if so what you do to deal with it?

Is ice cream still good/all right to eat if there is frost on top of it?

So who doesn't want Emeril Lagasse to go? As of Dec. 11 he will no longer be on food network?
