Yes I have made my own Sushi often and found it to be fun, but yes, it does require practice and I am certainly no Master yet.
I think the trick is getting the right KIND of rice to make "sticky rice" with the rice vinegar, and then rolling it at the correct temperature and thickness. I often err in the area of not spreading the rice thinly enough over the Nori seaweed so my rolls end up sizing more in the category of a salami sausage which when cut into bite sizes, often fall apart when handled with chop sticks.
I try to introduce others to Sushi which is sometimes fun, and oftentimes frustrating. To many, the concept of eating raw fish is just too much, so I like experimenting with different vegetable-only sushi recipes or I just use the Louis Kemp Lobster Delights or Crab Delights (made from Alaskan cod) which are fully cooked and work well for California Rolls.

Adding sugar and rice vinegar to the rice makes it a little stickier and more manageable. If you are not already doing that here is a recipe:
3 cups Japanese Sushi Rice
3 1/4 Cups Cold Water
1/3 Cup Rice Vinegar
2 Tbsp Sugar
1 Tsp Salt

Yes I have and I'm proud to say that it came out good! It was hard to roll in the beginning but once you get the hang of it you want to make sushi every day!
Not a bad thing come to think of it, healthy!

Homemade is good.
The trick to rolling is to spread the ingredients evenly over the front 3/4ths of the roll. When rolling away from you and the two rice ends touch, but there's still a staight flap of seaweed, that's when you take the matt and push it towards you to tighten up the roll. Now you can finish rolling the roll.

counting on what variety of sushi, that is enormously difficulty-free. Mine tasted purely positive. I did salmon and tuna nigiri and a pair distinctive flavors of California roll. do a little analyzing online or purchase a sushi e book. Be warned however, that is particularly a drag making sushi for one million or 2 human beings. so as to have a form of fish and rolls, you prefer extra human beings to consume, as you cant purchase such small products of fish for a huge form of sushi. in case you get California roll down, one in each and every of my favorites is the thinly slice an avocado 0.5, fan it around the width and canopy a "rice outdoors" CA roll. very advantageous seen. first actual step is to grasp the sticky rice. sturdy success.

if rolling is a difficulty, then you don't necessarily need to roll the sushi. if just your family is eating it, then you don't' really need to do this. when my family makes sushi, there will be a bowl with the rice. a little bowl with the seaweed cut into maybe 4x4 squares. and then there is a tray with ingredients laid out in a circle on it. with this, each person makes their own little sushi hand roll. it's easier for those preparing it, much easier.

ive made kimbop numerous times. its kind of like korean sushi, its a roll of seaweed and rice but different ingredients after that and doesnt use raw fish.
it does take practice to roll it up tight enough but its something anyone can do after doing it like 5-10 times lol

Yep- my daughter and I make it all the time- a few hints: wrap the bamboo mat in saran wrap tightly first; cut ingredients as evenly as possible ( avocado for example-) and use extra when laying out, expecting stuff to get pushed out the sides. Use a knife that has been dipped in ice water to slice the rolls, and enjoy!

i make it but the seeweed always comes chewy, i must be doing something wrong,,, but i never read a recipe,
i just lye out the seaweed, put rice, fish and cucumber in it then roll it up,,,,, i still love it but my husband complains xxxxxxxxx
