I think they taste better in the oven. Russet potatoes get nice and mealy so are the best to bake. Wrap in foil if you want a soft skin. Don't wrap if you like it crunchy. If you're in a hurry, use the microwave but wrap it in a paper towel. Usually an average size potato is done in 2 minutes in a high-power oven. If you're unsure, just check every 2 minutes. Be sure to prick the potato with a fork in a few places so the steam escapes and it won't explode. If you use the microwave, you'll have to eat it right away because it doesn't stay hot as long as one baked in the oven.

I like to make more potatoes than I need so I can use the leftovers to make potato salad or oven-browned potatoes (or fried potatoes if you can eat that).

You can bake your potato slowly. If your oven only goes to 230 .. I would suggest a smaller potato.

You can also cook your bake potato quickly in the microwave .. but personally, I like a potatoe cooked in the oven.

First .. wash your potato. I always take a knife .. and stick the knife through the middle of the potatoe. Rub butter all over your potato. Wrap the potato in foil .. put it in a pan .. and bake the potato. When the potato becomes soft enough .. it is done.

Another way to make a sort-of baked potato is to take a foil .. and cut a square .. fold the 2 sides together, leaving the top opened. Push the bottom of the foil on the counter where it will stand alone. Then .. make instant mashed potatoes .. put them inside the little foil boat you made .. then add all of the topping which you would add to a baked potatoe .. such as butter .. cheese .. bacon bits .. sour cream, etc.
These are pretty good.

I cook in the oven at 375 or 400 for at least an hour, or sometimes I cook in the slow-cooker for a good four hours. So if your oven only goes to 230, I would guess you are looking at 2-3 hours to get them cooked through. You can just prick them with a fork and put them straight in the oven, or you can wrap in foil.

Cook at 200 C for an hour to an hour and a half (for an average sized spud) or 13 mins in a microwave.

Sometimes i cook my potato in the microwave for about 5 min or so then take it out and immediately wrap it in aluminum foil and let sit for about 10min or so and then you have a baked potato.

Depends what you want it to do. Glaring at it might frighten it into obedience, but smiling at it is easier and uses less muscles.
