If I make the dough and then put the sauce and all the toppings on it, is it ok to leave it in the fridge for like 12 hours before I bake it or does it need to be baked right away?

i recently bought some figs and they came in a cardboard box, not a can. it read- natural figs, but when i opened the pack, they were all sticky and had some dried up brown, jaggery like materil on them. i wantr to know whether sugar may have been used in the drying process. is sugar/ honey/ jaggery normally used while preparing dried figs?

I made chocolate chip cookies with the same recipe I have used for about 3 years. (The Butter Flavor Crisco Stick recipe). They usually turn out great, but for some reason they came out thin and flat this time. It was like the dough melted and spread out instead of keeping its shape. What can I do next time if the first batch comes out like this? Can I add more flour or something to thicken it up?

I am trying to learn how to can and I notice that a canning rack plays a role in the canning process. I do not have a canning rack and I want to know how essential or important it is and what purpose it serves. Does it merely keep the jars from chattering as pockets of steam build up underneath them? Does their disruption pose a safety or freshness hazard? In other words can I get away without one?

Anyone know any interesting/unusual ingredients to chuck in a smoothie maker?

Ok, so I have posted on here some questions about my 9 yr old daughter becoming vegetarian and now it's my turn. I have basically cut out all meat but chicken and fish for our whole family since my daughter voiced her decision to no longer eat meat and I have found that cooking for her is easy with all the Morning Star and other meatless products out there. My dilemma is that now I wish to be vegetarian. I have quit eating meat 2 days ago and actually feel so much better. I don't really like the veggie meats out there and get sick of beans. I do eat eggs on my salads or a sandwich.

Now, how do I ensure I'm getting the protein I need. My daughter was easy because she loves the meatless meats.

I have decided at short notice to throw a BBQ on Sunday for my pals. As we have had a few this year already i want to make it more interesting by adding a theme that costs as little as possible. I know the normal themes but i dont want people to have to dress up, just some good decoration thats makeable and not going to burn a whole in my purse. Any good ideas?? I have searched on the net but all i find is sites where you buy themed plates and other such things.

Thanks

Is this bad to have everyday 5 days a week. It's the only thing I like to have for at school for lunch, and it's easy to pack, so would this be bad everyday for lunch?

Yesterday someone asked a similar question, some of the answers suggested organic milk. I found this article that was very interesting and I figured some of you vegetarians, and even vegans would find it interesting. Anyone who wishes to avoid large quantities of estrogen may want to read it also. (And all we read about is the high levels of estrogen in soy milk)

Let me know what you think of it. Does it change your opinion of milk?
