I don't understand why Burger King has fish sandwiches on sale on Friday. Then I remembered that a long time ago my Catholic gf's home always ate fish on Fridays, and they said it was a Catholic thing?

Why do Catholics do this? I thought Catholics were fairly liberal and wouldn't have such rules regarding food like some of the stricter religions do.

Is it supposed to remind us of the fish and loaves miracle?

Even so, why? I don't get it. I feel angry and frustrated. I thought you were supposed to be friendly, and not have these secret rituals.

In the early 90's I had a shrimp po boy at a shack in Gulf Port. Years later on vacation the shack was gone (replaced by a hideous casino) I can't find a creamy shrimp sandwich like that anywhere. Every po boy I have tried comes with fried shrimp. I'm desperate! If I can't find one does anybody have a recipe for a creamy, hot, shrimp po boy?
It wasn't drowned in mayo even though there was some in it, or real spicey.

Everytime i make brownies, they turn out like cake. It's not flat and it doesn't have the rough look at the surface like most brownies, it also doesn't look as dark and chocolatey as other brownies. Do i have to add anything to it?

When we lived in the Philippines in the 60s, our maids had no idea what teflon was and destroyed my mom's frying pans with scouring pans. It was a long time ago and we were far from home, we understood. But 40 years later, I still can't seem to get my brazilian wife to understand you don't use scouring pads on teflon. Is teflon a national secret???
