Well since its sour to begin with, how can you tell? Obviously if it has mold, its a problem. But let's assume the sour cream has been kept in the fridge all the time.

I'm not talking about the difference between different types (fat content) of milk. For instance, I like Sunnyside Farms 2%, but don't like Crystal 2%. Is it based on what they feed the cows, how they process the milk, how they store it, or what?

I'm making a frittata tomorrow morning and just realized it calls for chives (along with spinach, tomato and cream cheese). I wondered if Cilantro would be a good substitute, or if some mild onion would be better.

Just wondering b/c I left it out for a day and I didn't want to drink it but one of my friends says it has some sort of chemical in it that allows it to stay fresh longer than regular milk so I could have drank it? So is that true and if so for how long can it stay out for? (the one I'm reffering to is the nesquik chocolate in those bottles)

Seems like a lager is always just a lager unless its a pilsner, and the alcohol is always about 5%. Just about every other style of beer is a type of ale, and the alcohol contents go from 4% to 25% and sometimes higher.

I know the top fermenting yeast in ales, ferment at higher temps and thus faster. Does the make the alcohol content more "workable"?

As vegetarians, we wish to know if we should be making extra efforts to check ingredients of breads in Norway (we'll be there in about a month) as to whether they contain animal fats.

I am just trying to boil an artichoke for a snack to dip in lemon butter. I cut off the top and the outside parts that were tough, but the inside looks really brown. It smells OK but I have never had an artichoke look like that inside. Is it bad? Or just not ripe?
