I love it.

But, you do realize that the vast majority of "Chinese food" eaten outside of China isn't really Chinese, right?

Western Chinese food is not really what's eaten in China. Even Japanese "Chinese food" isn't really what you'll find in China.

I've had a variety of "Chinese" food, and I've liked it all, no matter how unauthentic it is.

Hey Flying Hawaii,
You are right as I read in the "Spiegel" (a German magazin like Newsweek) the chinese restaurants adapt in their receipts the local taste.
I love "chicken Szechuan" and Wan Tan soup very much.
In the early 70's I was with my mother on business trip to Copenhagen. I ordered it there. I only can say bähhh.
Some years ago I showed a bulgarian friend a little bit of the nearby Germany. Ocassionally we crossed the not more exsisting boarder to Eastern Germany and went there to a Chineese Restaurant. I only can say very very disappointing.
I have made the same experients in Spain.
When I go the next time to a Chinese Restaurant - in WESTERN GERMANY ONLY.
When I read your statements perhaps I 'll try them one day in the US.

Greetings from Hamburg, Germany
Heinz

I do I do I do I just love going to Chinatown in NYC and having real food. When it says hot and spicy - it is It has not been dumbed down for the whiney wimps and will not be and when it says sweet and sour it is - it has not been sugared to death for the sicko wimps and it will not be. Chinese food that tastes like it is advertised on the menu is the way it is intended to be. I can't eat that other stuff they call Chinese everywhere else though.

I love Chinese food but the salt and fat are bad for those that have high cholesterol. Stick with the steamed rice vs the fried kind. I only eat it on occasion. Enjoy

Kittens,
I adore chinese and oriental cusine of all sorts. Possible the best and most succint meal in the late afternoon is this and it doesn't take more than one hour to eat - Seame chicken with steamed rice and by leaving out the MSG you have no hunger pains for several hours. Don't forget to drink at least 10 ounces of your favorite beverage - please no alcohol for the rest of the meal period, if you desire a warm tummy.

I hate Chinese food.

Been struggling to give it up since I was twelve. Never could resist dimsums (why the heck do they have to offer so much variety?

Why do I still drool over crispy-skin roast duck, crispy fried shrimp? I know it's hi-cholesterol food. Fattening too!!

Will someone make me stop stuffing myself with yangzhou fried rice? Why does it have to taste so darn good!!

I could go on and on... there's just too many Chinese dishes to hate. Grrrr!!!!!
