I have a receipe that calls for paprika and cayenne pepper, but I don't have any. Is there anything I can use as a substitute? Also, it calls for onion powder, but I only have minced onions. Is that ok?

I was thinking of cooking steak tonight, I forgot to thaw the meat last night. Dinner is less than 2hrs, and I just thought about using the microwave (defrost) to thaw the meat.
Is there difference in taste? Personally I don't like using the microwave when it comes to cooking. Just doesn't taste the same...(just my opinion). But since it's just defrosting the meat should I go ahead and throw the meat in cold water, or defrost it ? Thank you very much.

I really don't have much to spend on a party. However, I would like to do something memorable for her, as she has never had a party other then just our little family. I am open to any party money saving ideas. Also, do I have to serve more than drinks, cake and ice cream? Do I have to serve a whole meal? What time of the day is good for non-meal parties?

Is there any valid reason to avoid tap water? Do you drink tap water yourself?

I've heard it's good for you as it builds your system against bacteria found in hard water - the stuff from the tap. Is this true?

Hi all,

We will be travelling to canada next week , it will take almost 11- 13 hours to reach the destination . My question is we are planning to bring some home cooked food with us , will it get spoiled , im planning to bring some coconut rice and some other curries , is that ok if i put it in a plastic food container or do i need to buy any special food box . I will be cooking it a day earlier and refrigerate it and then heat it on the travel day in microvawe , is that ok ?

Pls advice .

Question - I'm trying to pair a not-so-dry white wine with a grilled chicken a breast and a not-do-dry red wine with roast beef...any suggestions? I'm not a wine expert...I do enjoy Riesling, and wondering if that would be acceptable with chicken, or would it be too sweet? This is for my wedding reception, and I'd like to just serve one kind of red, one kind of white, and one dessert wine (a white or blush wine preferrably) for the entire reception. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. And I don't have a lot of money to spend on the wine, so some nice inexpensive wine would work best. Thanks for your help.
