I'm looking for a good, robust red wine to go with pot roast: something in a moderate price range. Rather than state my "standard" choice, I thought it would be interesting to see what suggestions I get so I can see whether anyone suggests my usual.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I had a drink called a kryptonite in College at a bar in Northeast Nebraska. I had never heard of this drink and it was AMAZING, I love it. I wondered if anybody has heard of it and how to make it.

I have always wanted to try Japanese cuisine but have never got around to it, I love most types of food as long as they are veggie friendly!

I'm looking for some new things to try this year, and holiday meals are just more fun when there's a story behind each dish. In return, feel free to try out one of my family heirloom recipes:

___SAUCY BEANS___
2 cans green beans (1 drained, 1 not)
2 half-inch thick slices of onion, diced up
2 pieces of thick-cut bacon, raw, cut into squares
2 small cans of tomato sauce

If you have a Crock-Pot, that's perfect - just dump everything into the Crock-Pot, turn it to low, and let it cook away. Otherwise, you can put it all into a covered saucepan and cook over low heat for a few hours.

My mom gave me this recipe after I moved to Texas, and said that both she and her brother have tried making changes to the recipe and have always been disappointed - the original is still the best.

Bon Appetit!

I am wondering what they taste like? (I have tried the veggie bologna, but didn't care for it at all -the taste, smell & texture were gross) However, I do want to try the bacon & cutlets because someone told me they taste fairly decent, but I would prefer vegetarians' opinions. Can you suggest other veggie products that are excellent?

If you have a favorite, good, but for the people who only drink beer, I am curious what appeals to them or would sound good?

See I understand the whole veggie thing with cruelty to animals etc (although I'm not one myself), but why vegan? Is it for the same reasons? Are you not concerned for your own health? After all, we were designed to eat meat, that's why we have incisors, and as far as I'm aware, vegans have to take supplements to ensure they get enough vitamins and minerals. This is a genuine question btw, not a lame excuse to start an argument!

I made this one up. It is called "Snowfall" - Take one ounce of Vodka and add one ounce of Creme de coco and one ounce of scotch whiskey and two ounces of real cream and 1/2 ounce of coconut schnapps. Sprinkle with nutmeg, pour in glass over a scoop of vanilla icecream. Enjoy.

inverted bowl on the bottom so that when you remove them from the dishwasher there's a pool of water there? Why aren't they flat? I'm hoping there is a good reason for this annoyance.

It's called a "Pink Kiss" - Take a jigger (1-1/2 oz) of 100 proof Vodka such as Schmirnoff Blue Label and add the following: one ounce peppermint schnapps, the juice of one quarter lemon, one half teaspoon of sugar, two ounces of cranberry juice, two ounces of strawberry-kiwi gator aid, and one ounce of apple juice, as well as five quartered marachino cherries (20 pieces after quartering). Pour entire mixture into a chilled tall mug. Insert a spoon/straw such as is found at drink stores, allowing spooning or sucking through the straw. Serve over as many small ice cubes as you can but mix thoroughly. Add an umbrella. Enjoy.

Who remembers Club Bars, the mini chocolate snacks that used to be availiable in different varieties (mint, orange, berry etc.). I used to like those. BUT I haven't seen them in shops or advertised for ages.

I'm guessing they're not in production anymore...but why???
