You know how there are some silly things that JUST BOTHER YOU? Well, this is one of mine.

I have wondered for years why in North America, as far as I have seen, consumer food markets, with exception of some Asian markets perhaps, never label "surimi" as "surimi" on packages of surimi?? In fact I have many times ordered some surimi displayed at supermarket fish counters and and the employees didn't know what I was talking about! Yet if you go to a seafood show wholesalers selling surimi identify it as such. "Surimi" is a Japanese word easy to pronounce in the official North American languages of English, Spanish and French, and in most other languages as well, and the product was invented 900 years ago. So why doesn't the FDA and the equivalent governmental agency in Canada (I'm not sure about Mexico) not require "surimi" on packages (and deli/fish counter trays when sold in bulk) of the stuff?? "Surimi" could be modified by currently used words, like "Imitation Krab Surimi".

Our marketing friend (We still love him though) says the Cadbury salmonella thing, found it in January and reported it in June, is now just a 'case study'. and when it is judged that the public have forgetton, Cadbury are to spend £10 million on a new marketing drive. Won't that just remind everybody about how they risked the public's health?

He already has championship breeder possums and a fine herd of them--about 5000 at last count. He has the building blueprints ready and the color scheme--plum and orange with cream trimming. He has the financing--$50 million from a guy who invested early in MicroSoft stock--and a top public relations firm to represent him.

ALL HE LACKS IS THE RIGHT NAME for a possum fast food chain.

And "EAT MO' POSSUM" is out. He says that doesn't reflect the quality food and recipes that he will be offering. (He's aiming to go upscale, you see--candles on the tables, violinists walking around the dining area, imported French breads, valet--parking and so forth.

WHAT"S YOUR SUGGESTION? HE NEEDS IT NOW!!!!!!!!!

Back in the early 80's I had a boyfriend who lived in Long Island. There were these trucks that drove around the neighborhoods selling hot dogs. You could buy a whole dozen or more. They were all ready to eat. Like buying a dozen doughnuts. And kinda like an ice cream truck. They had onions cooked in a sauce. Does anyone have a recipe? They don't taste like Nathans hot dogs, at least the Nathans I 've been to. They were the best hot dogs in the world.
