My local town has facilities to recycle paper, glass, cans, plastic and cardboard and the local council collects much of this as well as garden waste but what do I do with old batteries and toys or electronic equipment? They all state they are not to be put in the dustbin on the packaging but must be recycled, but where and how? I don't know of any recycling point for these items. Can anyone help?

How much per sq inch do they cost? Will i have to worry about them blowing off during hurricane season? If the sun isnt out for a week will my power go out? Will I have to check them every week and check which ones arent working and replace them? Is there anyway for them to be damaged by acid rain or any type of erosion like hail? When do I have to replace them? How do I dispose of old ones (like recycling)? What is smarter and more economical having few big panels or many small ones? I know I have alot of questions but I want a good detailed answer.

I've actually recycled more, using paper instead of plastic. But conservation, is the key people, and so I've conserved more too, trying to recycle what I use daily at home.

The companies that sell the water, such as Evian say because of Bactria and such do not reuse, is that just their way of having you buy more of their water. I wash out the plastic and then use a little bleach, and then dry them out.

Has anyone else been watching the series "Dumped" on Channel 4? I'm pretty good when it comes to recycling, but I have this vast collection of plastic carrier bags from various stores. Where can I take them where they wont get landfilled?

And can it be done without ruining the outside appearance of your house? All the solar homes I see are covered with funky panels, and it looks like a mess.

How much $$ would someone need to dish out for a transformation like that?

I used my blue recycling bin...there was,nt a lot in it really..but I put it out today with my other household waste bin...I went out shopping when I came back I started to put my bins away..when I got to the recycling bin there was a notice on it saying,... oops! sorry we are not emptying your bin ..wrong waste ..and the bin was absolutely over flowing with the normal household waste..yes somebody had filled the wrong bin up so they would,nt take it..so i was left with that outside my front door and somebody else claimed mine....I know now I should have put my number on it...but when I first got the bin I was led to believe it was chipped with my address....so much for recycling..

I have to get 80-100 corrugated cardboard boxes for recycling paper at our office desks. Width & height around 12" -give or take. They must be narrow (4-6" wide) as space is limited. These will sit on the floor next to the regular trash containers to encourage paper recycling. Preferrably they will be printed with recycling logos/info to avoid having our cleaning people confuse them with trash. We don't want Rubbermaid - or other plastic containers - for a lot of reasons, cost is one. If you know of an online source it will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I will be moving out on my own in 2 weeks. I have budgeted enough for food, bills, etc etc. But not much for entertainment. I have no problem living like a hobbit. I don't need tv so I won't be having that, but I wll just have internet. What are some fun, low budget, cheap, interesting things I can do on my spare time to keep me busy, entertained, and useful, etc.? I'd especially love to hear from people that are in a similiar situation as myself. I kind of like the idea of living like a hobbit/pilgrim. Thanks! btw I'm a 24 year old female.

Okay so.. if light deflect the light of the sun and black absorbs it, then aren't solar panels just absorbing more light, sun and heat into our atmosphere? Wouldn't this lead to an increase in global warming? Shouldn't solar panals be white? No rude answers please.

my room mate who is an utter moron
thinks he's an electrician but his ignorance precedes him

so, I have to pay the electric bill and i'm trying to avoid wasting energy
he always has these things going
1) a portable dvd player with a battery he never uses
now am i correct to assume that once the battery is charged it will just keep sucking in energy anyway
2)a camera battery that he also never uses but once it is charged hence the green light, why does it need to be plugged in when he's not even gonna use his camera for months?
3)i heard cell phone chargers will eat up energy to which to me makes sense since it's just a plug with no on/off
4)his pc monitor is always on

there's a ton of other things but those things on a daily basis i unplug

is any of this eating up significant energy?
anybody know any sites?
i need confirmation that these things(rarely used) do indeed waste energy

because the dude is stuborn and just thinks he's always right

I'm moving and I have this 55 gallon drum full of used motor oil and a 10 gallon can of contaminated diesel fuel that I don't know what to do with. My neighbor says he usually just dumps his down the sewer drain but I'm not sure that's legal. Was thinking of just dumping them into an estuary out in the sticks but the road out there's pretty muddy this time of year.

I do not want anyone's opinion on whether or not they think Perendev's motor is a hoax. I want to know the implications if it is real. What would happen ? In particular, would this lead to some sort of a golden age ? Would we have no reason to go to war ? Free energy is said to be impossible, but what if it is possible ? What will happen, assuming it is possible ?
