I've actually recycled more, using paper instead of plastic. But conservation, is the key people, and so I've conserved more too, trying to recycle what I use daily at home.

I urinate in the driveway instead of the toilet. Saves precious fresh water.

I drive a car that gets 35 mpg, and I don't go anywhere I don't have to.

I park at the farthest safe part of any parking lot, so I don't drive around for 20 minutes to find a spot.

I use a water filter on my tap water instead of buying tons of bottled water.

I recycle all my aluminum and tin cans, cardboard, plastic, and paper.

I read my newspaper online instead of the print version.

I NEVER run my dishwasher or clothes washer unless I have a full load.

There's more, but I'm on to answer more ?'s.

I no longer use plastic bags for grocery store, switched to canvas bags. Recyle my plastic, cans, glass containers. Give away unwanted items on local freecycle.com. In the past we would of thrown in trash. I plan a route to save gas when I go out. Use less water. Use filter water, no more plastic bottles. Drive a car that gets 38 miles to the gallon. Went paperless billing with credit cards and bank account.

We are trying really hard to be self sufficient and buy as little as possible so we have less to recycle or reuse. We grow as much food as we can there by reducing food miles, and we have joined our local Greenpeace group so we can try and change the powers that be. We have had solar water heating fitted and would like a compost loo so we do not waste so much water.

this year my husband and I have chosen to be responsible for our individual carbon trails. we realized it's not the government's place to do it, but if we all take responsibility so much change will happen.we use the car less, mass transit more,or walk,we have switched to those funny looking light bulbs all through the apartment, we turn the breakers off the hot water, washer&dryer when we are done with them for the day,all electrical appliances are on surge protectors which we turn off when items are not in use, this way we are not pulling electricity for a dormant item.we never leave water running while brushing teeth, doing dishes.paper not plastic thank-you reusable water bottles.this is jjust the effort of 2 people and it is so simple, like 2nd nature at this point, alldone in a very urban enviriment, and moderately low income.we save about 45% on our electric bills.everyone please take personal responsibility for your own carbon trail.we can save the planet.thank-you indraohmatman@yahoo.com

My wife and I started a computer reuse charity. For over 6 years we have been taking donated computers fixing them and re programing them. We then give them to low income families, schools, and churches. We are a 501(C)(3) charity. Last month we took over 2 tons of computer cases to be recycled, and over 200 pounds of circuit boards to be recycled. It's a start.

For 30 years my work has been mainly related to the Environment ,and Eco tourism.
.

Until a few months ago i was a consultant for the department of Ecology for local Government in Mexico. ,which has now folded ,due to political unrest

Now ,I answer lots of questions here in Answers about Environmental issues and peddle responsible Environmental behavior.

And am involved into setting up a couple of schools for farmers about organic and sustainable farming.

Up to 7 years ago in Africa i made many
gardens ,helped set up Eco tourist places ,and food gardens in a couple of very poor settlements for Africans

Mexico Oaxaca lived with the Mazateca Indians made some gardens ,including one in a school.and lectured on preserving their trees

5 years ago started a Park with the help of about 2000 school kids and parents,in the Sierra above Acapulco

Last year,i was at the river with a bunch of school kids and putting up boards to forbid dumping rubbish and cleaning up a part of the river side.

Sometimes I talk to schools about ecological awareness , have so far had more than 3000 visitors of school kids alone in my garden, not counting adults

To farmers i talk about ,harmful farming practices, give alternatives that are sustainable ,and lecture on the importance of trees and soil management ,erosion,Aquaculture ,niches ,companion planting, water harvesting etc.

Last year we motivated all the schools to clean up the Town, and even the army lend a hand and we are about to do this again in a couple of weeks

Also, with all the fisher men and owners and families of the beach restaurants we cleaned up the Lagoon

and have planted many trees and made many gardens ,by now.

I have been working to persuade our State and Federal legislatures to ban the use of coal as a fuel for the generation of electricity.

If we can ban the use of fossil fuels for the generation of electricity in the United States that will cut our output of carbon dioxide in the United States by half.

I strive for more capitalism. Under capitalism, resources are conserved for maximum profits. Profits allow the purchase of better pollution controls, making the product more desirable in the marketplace, thus earning a larger profit.
