im in first yr of uni and we watched a video onthe the profitablity of oil and gas. basically iwas thinking that ill wait a few years until a new form of energy is used to power cars such as a new type of feul or i heard somthing about hydrogen cells to power cars, or even using neuclear power to power cars...when this happens ill jump on it and start making parts that you need to the car with...for example, hydrogen cells, im sure bmw wont make the cells them selves they will purchase it from a company that makes them. i think this is a good idea beacuse firstly itll be a new techonolgy so there will be alot of room to grow, and with every new technology som really big companies cant adapt to change and go out of business, making room for people like me...so what do u think?

i do alot of recycling but was just wondering when recycling a large tub of butter today if it is efficient? As i had to use alot of hot water to clean the tub, then i will have to take a bag of plastic over a mile away in my car for it to be recycled- is the energy used from the washing and transportation of the plastic as well as the melting etc actually using more energy and doing more harm to the environment than just throwing the plastic away would cause? Thanks for your answers in advance x

im one that believes after all these years global warming wouldnt just start now but recently i stumbled over this
http://micpohling.wordpress.com/2007/03/27/math-how-much-co2-is-emitted-by-human-on-earth-annually/

now apparently this shows that humans produce 8% of what cars produce yearly so basicly 1 car =12 people now lets consider this there are 6.5 billion people in the world and a bit over 600 million cars (as of 1997) id estimate about 800 million now considering the growth rate and remember the 8% that humans prouce is only humans that doesent count the huge amount of dogs cats large land mamals and all animals all over the world

now clearly theres a solution to global warming which is plant more trees so im thinking? the whole reason for global warming is deforestation! considering humans produce 8% it seems if there was no deforestation thered be no global warming so simple plant more trees in your lawn!

When warnings about smoking were printed on packs of cigarettes they started off with 'smoking can seriously damage your health' and ended up after some years stating 'smoking can kill!' The problem is that familiarity breeds contempt and the smoking warnings became part of the packet. Climate Change is going down the same route - every day we are being indoctrinised with 'climate change, climate change, climate change' and to be frank it is losing its impact.

Hydrogen vehicles are not commercially viable and they won't be in our lifetimes. Some day, when the price of gasoline is $20 per gallon, hydrogen may be a competitive technology. In the meantime, plug-in hybrids with lithium-ion batteries are only a couple of years away from being a reality. A lithium-ion plug-in car with a home solar panel array would almost run free, from sunlight, forever. People driving less than 100 miles per day would never use gasoline. This is the technology that the government and industry should be spending billions to develop as soon as possible.

One last thought for us American SUV owners - what would you do if gasoline were $8 per gallon? Well, you should begin planning to do that because it will become a reality some day in the near future.

Let's say we switch everything over to a carbonless society (Except for Humans and Animals exhaling CO2) and we still see the CO2 levels rising? Then what?

Ok, whether you believe it's anthropogenic or not (and it is), global warming is happening. I've been reading a lot of questions that point to Antarctica and saying that there this year saw a record growth in area of the Antarctic ice sheet (not to be confused with the ice pack).
So, here's a riddle for you. Can you think of a reason why the ice sheet could grow to a record size in the face of global warming?

Burning, say, leaves in the garden seems, to me, to be the same process as letting them rot except it is accelerated by heat. Are the same gases produced and in the same quantities for each process?

Apart from my own family there is no-one, and as i am the eldest the responsibility stops here. Only God can help now i think.

That all schools are all enviormenttally safe? I disagree!
They have flush toilets with water, non recyled toilet paper,
syrofoam trays, filthy gyms, litter all over in the woods and animals' habitiats, rivers, lakes and oceans containing trash and sewage from the schools, food wasting, schools are not accepting enviormenttally safe clubs to help the enviorment, schools have a few recyling bins for certain types of trash like bottles and also sinks not have having water saving thingies. Please answer and thank you for helping the enviorment and the animals!

My school uses styrofoam lunch trays and I know that they are very poor decomposers and somewhat toxic. How can our school recycle trays? I don't think it would be smart to use plastic trays because we are going through a drought and we can't use extra water to clean them. Any ideas?

Or is this a big sucker job put on by politicians? I believed that crap until I started doing some digging. The web and your local library are full of studies dating back to the 1800's on global warming. It's not a new thing. I've taken the time to read actual research results and it appears that our contribution to global warming is only .28%. Water vapor is responsible for 95% of global warming. Volcanoes, rotting vegetation, solar cycles, magnetic cycles, animals (including CO2 and "intestinal gas" from 6 billion people), and industry for the other 5%. Of that, our share is so small there may be nothing we can do to change anything. So, are we being taken for suckers again? Who gets the money out of this global warming thing? Give me something to believe in, no media crap.

Recently there has been a fixation in this section regarding 1998 being the hottest year on record, which they conclude must mean that global warming has "stalled".

Why do these people neglect to mention that with the exception of 1998, every year in the 1990s was cooler than every year since 2000? In fact, if you ignore 1998, no year in *at least* the past 1000 years has been even close to the average global temperatures from 2001-2007.

Choose whichever temperature graph you like:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Instrumental_Temperature_Record.png
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:2000_Year_Temperature_Comparison.png

So why does this argument neglect every single year except 1998? Do you think it's perhaps because in reality global warming has not "stalled"?

I'm really mad right now because yet again there's some people out there from some tree cutting hacking away at everything I love. The woods aren't very big, but here in New Jersey where there's so much development every acre counts. It's been my private sanctuary for a long time where I could always come to explore or relax. Plus all the animals will suffer if its gone. There's of course lots of trees but there's a creek that runs through it and a field. Seemingly just to make me wonder there's an old abandoned stone cabin too. I stared in shock when I saw they had cut down most of the trees hiding the creek from plain view. The creek was one of my favorites, where I could sit and listen to the water and watch the animals drink, or slide around when it would freeze over. I feel really bad now because I'm thinking about all the animals I've seen running around there. I mean, it's like one of the only places nearby for the deer. There's a busy road between the path to the other.
