I read this article on Yahoo News:

And like pretty much everyone who has a computer or watches TV, know all about the hype regarding changes in weather patterns and stuff. Yes, there are "signs" now. But are these mass sufferings due any time during this century? When will it be too unbearable to live a normal life?

What should the government do? Does the government need to step in? How can a family of 4 or 5 making 50-90 thousand a year help?

They are saying somethings of Global Warming cant be fixed now!
But there must be lots of people changing light bulbs to energy saving ones and walking instead of driving by now, right?

And with Orlando Bloom, Sienna Miller & Leo DiCaprio supporting it, people are going to want to do the same thing as them?

Whats going on??

Does anyone know if NASA finally jumped on the global warming bandwagon. I had heard they always refer to solar warming figures of the other planets to show current global warming is within the variation of the other planets current warming trends. If you have the link to NASAs planet warming data that would be appreciated.

Many people today have said the IPCC is a liberal political group when in fact it is a scientific body. Do people really think that politicians could analyze and summarize thousands of scientific papers? Or do they simply lie about the IPCC in an attempt to undermine its credibility, since the IPCC is the foremost authority on climate science?

On top of that, mission_viejo has repeatedly lied about the IPCC, claiming that it had concluded that humans are not responsible for the current warming, when it specifically concludes otherwise.

Do people really not know what the IPCC is, or do they engage in ad hominem attacks because they can't dispute the science?

I didn't recycle very much until this week... In one week I had completely filled, by myself, one blue recycling box. Without even thinking about it and with very little effort!

So why don't you? If your workplace doesn't offer recycling, why not demand it?

Plastic bags are estimated to take 500-1500 years to degrade. Why not recycle them? Instead of using plastic water bottles & tossing them, get a water purifier and use a reusable water bottle. Cost is less than $30 and you'll have significantly less garbage.

Why don't you recycle?

i'm still confused about the whole thing, not because i don't comprehend the facts about it, or because i'm not informed, but because..i've heard people say they dont believe in global warming.
is it because you don't believe everything u see or everything ur told??
please let me know what you think about the whole thing, i need to take many different points of view into consideration before coming up with my conclusion.
to tell you the truth, the whole global warming issue scares the crap out of me. lol. and i'm not a hippy.

I don't. It gets 120 something here in the summer, but I think thats just cuz thats normal. Also, it gets REALLY cold, like 50 so I don't think global warming is a problem.

"As early as 2020, 75 million to 250 million people in Africa will suffer water shortages, residents of Asia's megacities will be at great risk of river and coastal flooding, Europeans can expect extensive species loss, and North Americans will experience longer and hotter heat waves and greater competition for water, the report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says.

The potential impact of global warming is "so severe and so sweeping that only urgent, global action will do," Ban told the IPCC after it issued its fourth and final report this year."

"The report says emissions of carbon, which comes primarily from fossil fuels, must stabilize by 2015 and go down after that. Otherwise the consequences could be "disastrous," said IPCC chairman Rajendra Pachauri."

10,000 acres of hemp can produce as much paper product as 40,000 acres of forest. I'm sure we could use it as fuel too. growing corn for ethanol is just raising food prices.

I know, I know ok..it's been talked about to death.
But I'd like to truly understand why it is that there are X amount of people in the world that don't believe this thing about Global Warming and that its happening.
They say it's just a natural occurance that happens with the earth. Ok yeah.......I agree the earth does lots of things naturally and warming is one of them. However
this is the problem I have with people who don't believe in Global Warming. How much crap year after year after year do we continue to put into the atmosphere........tons and tons of it.
So I'd like to know who the jacka*s is that has the research that's telling those who don't believe in Global Warming that everything's gonna be just fine.....we can do whatever we want to the planet it'll be ok
YOU CAN'T KEEP DOING THIS AND BELIEVE THERE ISN'T GOING TO BE ANY REPROCUTIONS FROM IT....or maybe what it really is is you don't really care if its true or not. Because its alot easier not to care isn't it!

Many of the world's major faiths share some traits. The modern environmental movement seems to share some of those traits:

1. Dogma - the so-called truths that are believed, without question, by the adherents to the faith. Christians believe Christ is the son of GOD. Environmentalists believe there is "scientific consensus" on man made global warming.

2. Sin - An act or thought that goes against the dogma. Christians believe murder is a sin. Environmentalists believe burning fossil fuels is a sin, as is claiming man is NOT responsible for global warming.

3. Forgiveness - A way to atone for our sins or a way to continue to sin and still achieve salvation. Christians believe that a belief in Christ is the son of GOD and that he died so that we may be saved is how we get to heaven. Environmentalists believe that if they buy carbon credits from Al Gore, they can keep driving their SUVs without feeling guilty.

Go ahead, flame me, I can take the heat.

Old asphalt can be used to add to the mix of road asphalt and for other uses. How much is actually recycled, and what are the obstacles? Have you been successful in having your old shingles be recycled, instead of just having them hauled away to a landfill?
