It can't possibly happen that fast. No one in rich countries will die, much less millions.
It won't be a Hollywood movie style disaster. Gradually coastal areas will flood and agriculture will be damaged. But it will be very bad. Rich countries will cope, but it will take huge amounts of money. In poor countries many people will die of starvation, but not all of them.
Most scientists say, in 20-50 years. But we need to start right now to fix it, fixing it will take even longer than that.

The movie is a Hollywood production, but that doesn't mean parts of it aren't true. No, the world won't have 3 hurricane-like snowstorms that cover the Northern Hemisphere in snow and ice. But what he said at the beginning, about the polar ice caps melting and sending way too much freshwater into salt water, is true. It's all caused by greenhouse gasses that trap the sun's heat into the atmosphere and warm the earth. There isn't really a way to stop it, it's already gone too far. It's impossible to predict what's going to happen exactly, but weather will probably become more extreme and climates will shift. Minnesota still hasn't had snow this year and only 20 years ago it snowed in July. The government is beginning to consider having 6 categories for hurricanes now because of how much larger and frequent they are becoming. Also, coastal places such as Flordia will recede as water floods the state's shores. But it is impossible to predict what is going to happen next.

Art follows life. It wasn't really a prediction, rather the movie was an overdramatization of a worse case scenario, even the producers admit that.
The premise of having an instant deep freeze because of a storm strong enough to suck air down from the edge of space leans heavily toward the "fi" end of sci-fi, but the idea of more severe weather due to AGW is sound and demonstrated all around us.

The things that happened on that movie can or will happen if global warming continues, but it will probably be a while before global warming causes NYC to be under water or people having to evacuate all of the northern U.S because of extremely cold weather.

well it could happen, only not that fast. and it would take like 10 years for the water level to rise that high, only if antarctica melted 75%. and the freezing thing in the eye of the storm is highly unlikely. the heat that is falling from the troposphere would expand and heat up... but it could happen

The temperatures have been cooling since 1998. There is no
doom and gloom just around the corner.
All warming is caused by the Sun. The Sun's output varies slightly, as nature is not constant. This is by far the largest source of any warming on our planet.

I think you need to find a source other than Hollywood for your facts. The movie in question was so full of scientific inaccuracies and just plain stupidity that no thinking person could take it seriously. In addition, it pretty much sucked as a movie as well.

No the "Day after Tomorrow" is scientificly impossible, And if decreased of salinity caused global tempertures to decrease, people could have fixed it by adding more salt to the water.
