Well, it is possible that it is natural, but the fact that humans are polluting the Earth and the atmosphere doesn't help it get any better. Yes, we could be the reason that the Earth is slowly heating, but I think everyone has their own opinions on the cause. Just stick to whatever you believe in.

"The viewpoint that we are not accountable for any part of global warming is a strange viewpoint to take. You and sites like junkscience, counter the facts with your own junk science. Here's my question to you, 'What if you are wrong in your model of the Earth?' Do you understand every nuance of the inbound energy to the Earth? Do you have figures to show the amount of energy radiating back into space over the last million years? Do you know exactly how much carbon dioxide is reabsorbed by the various mechanisms and how much heat is now hitting the surface for a second time? No you don't, none of us have the global temerature figures for the last several million years nor do we have an accurate model which includes every aspect of the complex energy and climate systems of our Earth. That said, can we afford to take the chance with the only atmosphere we have? We, the human race generate millions of tons of carbon dioxide, methane and other gases into our atmosphere. We are systematically removing the rain forests, we pollute the oceans and rivers and show no signs of slowing down. Meanwhile, waiting in the wings are the carbon gases locked up in the permafrost, the methane locked up in the methane hydrate at the bottoms of oceans and again, in the polar permafrost, and the recent discovery that trees can emit methane when under thermal stress. You spout facts and figures, using long important sounding words, referencing other doctors and scientists who have their own viewpoints for their own reasons yet the reality is, you don't really know. Neither side really knows for sure but you are taking the side that would have us continue to add to the problems instead of being on the side of caution just in case we are pushing the system out of balance. I hope you are right, I hope that you never have to say 'oops, guess I was wrong' because that means we are all up the creek without a paddle. You being wrong means that our children are bereft of a future, that millions will be homeless or dying. It means that our Earth has been pushed off it's climactic balance. I really, really hope you are right and that you are a better and cleverer scientist than the many others who are trying to reverse the trend." -Author unknown

Yes, global warming is extremely legit. It happens, but global cooling also does. It's called natural progression. I'm not so sure that humanity is affecting the planet though as much as it's just time to heat up. We go through periods of warm and cold and geologists have uncovered plenty of evidence to that fact. There's no one that can say for certain though HOW MUCH impact humans actually have on this. It could very well be negligible or non-existent. As for being politically motivated: Global warming is often attributed to the burning of fossil fuels, the companies that produce fossil fuels pay our politicians. Make your own determination based on that FACT. Anyone who doesn't believe that is either retarded, or an oil company owner, lol.
I felt the need to edit this because I see a LOT of peole when writing about global warming mentioning waiting and having our grandkids deal with it:
First of all, the thing we should do something about is pollution, NOT global warming, because global warming, just like a tornado or earthquake or volcano eruption is completely natural. Since we cannot do anything about any of the LOCALIZED natural phenomena what chance do you think we have of containing a GLOBAL natural phenomenon? There is none and you are kidding yourself if you think otherwise. We need to focus on MAN MADE problems such as pollution, hunger, war, crime, etc. Focusing on REAL threats to humanity to make this a better world for our children. I mean, which would you rather be without, war or warmer temperatures? How about hunger or warmer weather? Anybody???

There isn't ANY evidence behind man-made global warming ZILCH. Show me a scientific experiment conforming to the 8 step scientific method demonstrating that CO2 causes the Earth's temperature to rise.
The only data we have is that over the Earth's history CO2 levels increase about 800 years AFTER global temperature rises -- PROVING that CO2 DOES NOT cause increased temperature. Increased temperature happens for some other reason, and THAT causes CO2 to evaporate from the oceans where a lot of CO2 is stored.
Several people talk about "Well we should stop pollution anyway."
CARBON DIOXIDE IS NOT POLLUTION: CO2 is PLANT FOOD. CO2 is what plants BREATH and what makes plants GROW.

My theory is that, with all the stuff nasa has removed from Earth and put into space and on the moon, Earth has got fractionally lighter and the gravity of the Sun is therefore pulling Earth closer to it, causing us to heat up. After all, our planet has a very highly sensitive ecosystem and such a minute temperature change could cause the global warming effects; as for politics, governments are just using global warming to keep the third world countries poorer and thus maintaining the financial balance of the world - for the immediate benefit of 1st world countries.

There is no question the earth has been warming. Some scientist believe, It is coming out of the "Little Ice Age".
However, there is no credible evidence that it is due to mankind and carbon dioxide. We've been coming out of a "Little Ice Age" for 300 years. We have not been making very much carbon dioxide for 300 years. It's been warming up for a long time.
Though, humans are polluting the air and adding carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, but the effect is tiny.

Global warming is occuring. Of that there is no doubt. Just to what extent it is manmade and what is not has been a hot topic for a few years now. Contrary to popular opinion, Al and Leo have nearly no idea about the subject matter they are "championing". They've just put their names and voices to something that has been thoroughly run through the spin doctor regurgitation mill. For your own benefit, I'd suggest researching climate trends on your own in the library. This will give you a much clearer understanding of how the world's climate works and man's effect on it than some talking-head-pseudo-celebrity desperately trying to stay in the limelight.

Yes, it is.
The better question to ask, and is debated on now a days, is whether it's as big a deal or not.
I think it's somewhere in between. Yes, it has detrimental effects on our planet, but there's other things out there we could and could not fix that could end the world as well.
PS: I'm definately voting to have Global Warmning dealt with though. Why not take down one more thing that's hastening us to our doom. Just go down the list and start dealing with them. Global warming would be a good oen to start undoing the damage now.

Right now, the consensus is that global climate change is happening. The question is, how much money should we spend to take care of the problem. That's what our politicians are deciding now.

No matter what, we should do what we can to reduce pollution including green house gases.
The global warming argument is just political. The climate always changes, it's just natural.
