i'm still confused about the whole thing, not because i don't comprehend the facts about it, or because i'm not informed, but because..i've heard people say they dont believe in global warming.
is it because you don't believe everything u see or everything ur told??
please let me know what you think about the whole thing, i need to take many different points of view into consideration before coming up with my conclusion.
to tell you the truth, the whole global warming issue scares the crap out of me. lol. and i'm not a hippy.

Okay, first of all, anyone that says they don't believe in Global warming usually means that they don't believe that humans are contributing much to it. Anyone who doesn't believe in the IDEA of global warming is a complete idiot. It has happened before and will happen again, just like the global cooling (hence the term "ice age"). As for doing something about it: There may be nothing that we can do about it at all. The earth is going to do what it will do, PERIOD. To even entertain the idea that we can contain it is ridiculous. We can't stop earthquakes, we can't stop tornadoes, we can't stop one single natural phenomenon. These are only localized threats to humanity. So, how would we have a chance of altering something that happens globally? The answer is that we can't. The only thing on this planet that we CAN control is man-made phenomena such as pollution. So, rest easy tonight!

There is little scientific doubt that a certain amount of 'warming' is taking place, however alarmist and shrill politicians and political hacks aside, there is absolutely no proof that this warming is man made. In fact there is considerable ancidotal evidence that the warming may simply be a normal solar cycle. Too many factors are at work to make any conclusions that would involve altering the world economy, and possibly throwing millions into poverty.
1) Al Gore's movie has been proven to be full of half-truths and out right lies.
2) Carbon dioxide TRAILS global warming, it does not lead it.
3) Carbon dioxide is almost a trace element in our atmosphere. It represents such a small portion that the very sugestion that increasing quantities by 200% only accounts for an actual change in total percentages of 1000 of 1%.

This is a tool being used to control, frighten, and manipulate you. Remember Al Gore with his hate filled speech that President Bush is playing on your fears? Terrorists have killen tens of thousands around the world. Global warming has killed ZERO.

The reason you're confused is because global warming is not science, but a cause more like a political goal.

The climate is never static, it's always changing. If the Earth isn't warming, it's cooling.

CO2 has increased in the atmosphere. Its gone from about 240ppm (parts per million) to 320ppm, or an increase of just 80 parts per million, or just 0.008%. Some claim that this is significant to raise the temperature of the Earth. Algore fits into this category.

Other scientist see increased activity in the Sun as causing the slight warming on Earth. The Sun's output has increased 0.1%. There is also evidence of warming on Mars, and other outer planets. A majority of scientist believe the Sun is the source for all heat on Earth.

Most people see this argument as a political argument, as the UN's IPCC just completer hard negotiations on global warming. Negotiations are not scientific, but they are political.

However it shouldn't matter because the goal for both sides is an overall reduction on all pollution, including green house gases. The sides differ on the methods and tactics to be used.

I view him the same way I view any expert in the field(s) related to the climate sciences. I will listen to his opinion and lend it credence based on the evidence he provides to support his opinions, and also on the counter-arguments offered by those who disagree with him. If I go solely on what you have written (which I won't, but just to offer an example), his comments change nothing about my stance. Offering up comments such as, "Meanwhile, increasing evidence indicates that most of the warming comes of natural phenomena." doesn't really tell me anything. I've heard this same line repeated hundreds of times by dozens of people over the past several years. It has no impact, just as Al Gore saying the evidence is overwhelming or any other person making such a declaration. Basically, he can have it out with the rest of the scientific community and I will happily watch as he makes his case. I think that's what we'd expect from the scientific community.

People can believe what they want to believe, we all rationalize our life styles to keep from getting depressed and realizing we could do much better for our selves and the planet. As others have exposed here, weather they are cognitive of it or not, our dominate culture and society has become very wasteful, greedy, selfish and ignorant. Dare to be different... even if Global Warming does not exist (it does) seek the path of walking softly on the planet. Lead by example, don't follow some of the pods that have posted here. We all must choose between what is right and what is easy. As Americans, we are 5% of the global population but we consume 25% of the planets natural resources and thus contribute 25% of total world pollution. Ask your self, is this OK?

You get to draw your own confusions. :)
Are you worried about a giant meteor wiping out civilization?
What about all the other alarmist claims - do they concern you?

Don't you find it strange that this new breed of alarmist ignore the variations of Sunlight and Sun spots or the plethora of other factors involved in climate?
They want you to believe the earth in in perfect orbit - BUT there is what is called the Milankovitch Cycle - I don't believe this has an effect in the present warming period - but it shows there many other possibilities other than the VERY MINOR CO2.
http://www.homepage.montana.edu/~geol445/hyperglac/time1/milankov.htm

The most likely cause for this natural warming is the increasing volcanic activity:
http://volcano.und.edu/vwdocs/current_volcs/current.html
http://www.volcano.si.edu/reports/usgs/

Even an informed alarmist must admit that a large volcano will produce many times the CO2 then man could ever produce.

In the 1970s liberal scientists were warning us that pollution was causing another ice age. Then the earth started getting a little warmer and they started saying pollution was causing global warming.
In reality, it is natural for the earth to warm and cool for lots of natural reasons, mostly because the sun doesn't always put out the same amount of heat. People who are trying to scare you with global warming are either evil and want to control our lives, or are not properly educated regarding nature and natural cycles.

There is no question the earth has been warming. Some scientist believe, It is coming out of the "Little Ice Age".

However, there is no credible evidence that it is due to mankind and carbon dioxide. We've been coming out of a "Little Ice Age" for 300 years. We have not been making very much carbon dioxide for 300 years. It's been warming up for a long time.

Though, humans are polluting the air and adding carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, but the effect is tiny.

Like they say...its a hoax designed to scare you into buying really expensive and highly profitable stuff.

Wonder why the do not understand that it is natural cycle...most parts of dry land now was underwater during the last warming cycle. Oh, I forgot...seashells and marine life remains found in the mountains of Wyoming must have been placed there by humans long ago...

I can't wait to laugh real hard while trying to choke out a "told you so" in a dozen or so years when "they" change their mind (again). However, I will not fall for them saying that the reason it did not warm as much as it could have because they stopped it...yeah right.

The jury is in. There is no more scientific debate about global warmimg. The facts really are facts.

Just like any turbulent issue there are always people who are willing to take the opposite view inorder to gain publicity. For instance there is the Flat Earth Society and those who think we never landed on the moon.

Just keep watching because we are all going to experience change from now on.

Don't buy any water front property just yet.
