What should the government do? Does the government need to step in? How can a family of 4 or 5 making 50-90 thousand a year help?

There are many things.

1) Make a difference at home. Heat up water in a water digester instead of using a pot. It is 3 times more efficient. Walk short distances or use a bike more frequently. Use energy-saving bulbs! They are 70% more efficient! Fill the tires of your car slightly above the standard. This will save you gasoline.

2) The government should most definitely do something about global warming! Laws need to be passed to reduce the production of green house gases in industry and in society.

3) The biggest polluters are fabrics (industry). Fabrics need to modernize, build in filters, research on new technology to release less green house gases into the air.

This is the biggest challenge mankind has ever faced, but it is given too little attention. We, humanity, needs to change the way we think. If we are not so egocentric and selfish, I think that this challenge is no problem at all!

I recommend the documentary "An inconvenient truth" from Al Gore.

Hope this was helpful.

Pollution control is a multi billion dollar business. Action is being taken.

In the free market there is a demand for cleaner technology. Capitalism is providing the means to provide the technology required to match this demand.
