I remember my brothers an I looking up and picking out the big dipper and the little dipper and the milkyway to name a few. I just can't see the stars like I did back then.Is it polluation? Can you see the stars? I miss seeing them.

These plates have warnings issued according to California Proposition 65, meaning that they do contain lead. Can it get into my system by just handling them? The boxes have the warning, but not the plates, cups, or bowls themselves. They are not for sale in California only. I am in Michigan. It kinda worries me. California has really strict laws about lead content, why doesn't the rest of the country have them? My store, a major dollar store chain sells these all the time. Why can't they warn people about the possible lead content? Scary isn't it? Please if anybody can seriously answer this let me know. Thank you ahead of time.

By this I mean why aren't us humans throughing fire out of our hands like the xmen or something. I know this is a bit exagerated, but seriously why isn't it happening with humans? Some people say that animals (not humans) are always changing to be able to live in thier environment. People should've found a better way to live too if evolution is real. Are we not the smartest and most soffisticated "creatures" of the earth so, why aren't we smarter and more soffisticated than we are today? I just don't get it. Why haven't we stopped global warming, which we caused? So, why has evolution (with the considreration it is real) stopped in humans today. I mean surley we can be better adapted to our environment. Don't you agree?

It sounds like a long time off, but history of civilized man on Earth goes back about 7,000 years ago. Do you think our species will survive another 100 years?...much less 7,000 years?

What can we do collectively has humans to ensure the survival of the species?

The building i work in has an electric bill of around £800 per month, i was wondering if anyone could tell me what size wind turbine, or what number of turbines would be required to almost cover this bill or make a good sized dent in it?
Also do any firms allow you to use the power generated from the turbines as you primary power source for the entire building?

Electric cars sounds like a good idea. I like the quick start option.

But ...

It sounds like too good to be true, it takes about 6-10 years to build a power plant. California is short for electricity for a long time already. So where is the extra capacity going to come from to use in electric cars ?

In the news today, Australia has announced that they are going to ban and gradually phase out the sale of all conventional (incandescent) light bulbs, nationwide. Everyone will be forced to use fluourescent replacements, with very limited exceptions for things like ovens or medical use.

Personally, I think this plain nuts. I use those fluourescents here and there in non-critical places and in places where the bulbs are hard to reach and replace. But the quality of the light is crap compared to conventional lamps. They are rotten to read by, and rotten to do close work under. If they had the same light spectrum as incandescents, I'd say "more power to them." But they don't.

I think what Australia (and everybody else) should be doing is pouring money into making fluourescents produce the same quality of light as conventional lamps, and getting the cost down. That will get everyone to use them.

What environmental initiatives have your various workplaces put into effect? How effective were they? Did they go down well with staff, or were they met with complaints and unwillingness? Recycling, energy/natural resource conservation, environmental improvement? Are they still running, or have they died the death? Let me hear them!

I once heard that ever time you flush your toilet you flush something like 14 liters of water (that number could be wrong, but I know that it's a ridiculous amount). So, wanting to be as environmentally friendly as possible, in my own home, I've limited the amout of times I flush. ex: yellow I'd let it mellow and brown I'd flush it down. But there has to be a better and more sanitary way. Any suggestions?
Obviously wasting 14 liters for 500 mL of urine is terrible. Perhaps I should get myself a urinal.
