why are the yellow pages colored yellow?

why aren't they recycled brown w/natural fibers colored?

So they are easily recognizable. Black print shows up better on yellow than on brown. But you do make a very good point.

because it makes the words easier to read to the elder, or people who are partially blind...easier on ther eyes then lets say..pink or blue

Yellow is pretty.
