I saw this gal just walking along and unwrapping a candy bar. She just let go of the wrapper and let it fly off into the air and kept walking and eating that candy. That just disgusted me!

Pressure treated wood deck had/has arsenic in it that leached out and contaminated dirt below -- is there some plant I could put there that might absorb the arsenic? If I dig up the dirt, what do I do with it, just throw it out, or do I drop it off at my city's toxic collection site where they collect paint thinner and the like? How bad is this for my kids to be around?

I think that there is a shortage of trees in this bad old world, cos us nasty humanites chopped a lot (over 50%?) of them down. What I reckojn should happen is that everyone gets given a tree by the government or a company and your nearest and dearest has to plant it when you die! And your memory could live on in the tree, (you could put your ahes under it) and you could help by making the world greener after your death.

I heard an engineer on radio recently state that it is more economical to leave heating on for longer periods at a lower temperature than have it come on for shorter periods at higher temperature. He suggested that having the heating come on for short periods overnight in winter saves money as less overall heating is required to raise internal temperature from very low (when heating is left off for long periods) to comfortable. Is this true? What is the most economical way to use home heating? I currently have an oil burner.
