I found one that uses an American quilt theme with the authors on pieces that represent their time period. I would like any that utilize the time periods, the authors, the genres, or characteristics of American literature and that are age appropriate for high school.

Thanks! (Serious answers only, please!)

The No Child Left Behind Act was a bipartisan bill, not a Bush administration concept. Bush signed the bill into law. Its a failure yet everyone acts like this was Bush's idea. Just to silence the liberals before they begin, Ted Kennedy was a key player in this bill. This was a breakdown on BOTH sides.

I'm a brand new teacher. I'll be teaching 5th grade and I'm really nervous about what to do on that first day of school, as well as the first week. How should I introduce myself? What can i do to make it better for the students.. Activities? Procedures? Veteran teachers, what do you wish you were told to do? Thanks in advance...

Education seems to be the only profession where the policy makers aren't actually in the profession. Why? Imagine the AMA run by carpenters.

I just got a job today as a head teacher. I am so excited! I have subbed before and fell in love with teaching. However now that I will have my own classroom I will have to do all the planning. I'm really nervous about it. It is pre-K. Anyone have any advice?

I have noticed that when I am informed by Yahoo! Answers that one of my answers has been chosen by other users as the best answer, I get an email that reads as follows: "Yahoo! Answers: Your answer has been chosen as the best answer". Why put the word, "answer", at the end of that line or sentence? It is not needed. "Your answer has been chosen as the best" would suffice there, wouldn't it? It is amazing to me how the educational system has eroded since I graduated back in 1969! Most people can't even read and write properly anymore. Is it a matter of not knowing how, or is it just plain carelessness? Whichever, I find it to be very annoying to say the least. Thanks.
