Just this year, our elementry school did away with Music class and now are teaching the kids to speak Spanish. I personally don't like this idea. Not that theres anything wrong with Spanish, but doing away with music class for spanish, I don't think is a good self-motavator for young children.

Is this considered a simile.

My mother listened gravely to the music, as though synchronizing her heartbeat with it.

My son can choose from Spanish, French, German, and Latin. He chose Latin. We live in the Midwest and really don't have a lot of opportunity to use any foreign language, unless a person chooses to pursue that field. However, I took 3 years of Spanish and feel that he could gain so much more from studying a 'real' language, especially Spanish, as that culture is so predominant in today's society. Any opinions?

recently i have been making careless mistakes on my tests. i used to always have this problem, but i eliminated it last year for most of the year. For the last moneth, however, it has plagued me again. I never miss a question because i dontknow the information. Usually what happens to me is that I read the question wrong or I just mix up numbers in my head. For example on my last biology test, I had to label the parts of the eye. I knew and consciously recalled the information but for some reason I thought the line for the sclera was pointing to the choroid and vice versa. I thought that was where they were pointing. I feel like I have vision problems or something. I would do ANYTHING to prevent this in the future. Please help me.

I'm a junior in high school and I already have senioritis. I can't stand doing homework...I'm actually avoiding it right now. And when I don't do it, I just skip school the next day. I'm getting too many absences and I'm falling behind. The thing is is that I'm really smart and 17 in my class of 700, so it's like I'm not that worried about it. I use my rank as a fall back, when I know I really need to develope better discipline, especially before college. Any advice?

Hi everyone,

My dream career is being a doctor, but the problem is..I'm afraid I'm not smart enough to be one. I think my GPA is okay (not that high like some ppl, but i think I can improve it) right now, and I know I have to work hard to study for the MCAT...However, I'm still doubting if I can stand the pressure of medicine. I heard that medical school is extremely difficult, and many(?) students drop out.

I volunteer in a hospital, and I know for sure this career is right for me, but my intelligence isn't great like some ppl.
I'm scared that I might waste my energy on this pre-med path then disappoint myself later on.

For this reason, I don't have a lot of motivation to do well in school like I used to..I get lazy very easily, and I procrastinate like crazy these days. .I know I have to study hard to compete with other pre-meds, but I just can't find any motivation anymore..but I really want to be a doctor...

What should I do?
