recently i have been making careless mistakes on my tests. i used to always have this problem, but i eliminated it last year for most of the year. For the last moneth, however, it has plagued me again. I never miss a question because i dontknow the information. Usually what happens to me is that I read the question wrong or I just mix up numbers in my head. For example on my last biology test, I had to label the parts of the eye. I knew and consciously recalled the information but for some reason I thought the line for the sclera was pointing to the choroid and vice versa. I thought that was where they were pointing. I feel like I have vision problems or something. I would do ANYTHING to prevent this in the future. Please help me.

You could have a vision problem. The first thing to do is see an Eye Doctor, tell him / her exactly what trouble your having. I have a friend who can "see" just fine but uses rose colored lens to study and take test. Her optometrist told her it had something to do with thinking faster then seeing and processing what she sees.

If money is a problem contact your local Lions Club, they help thousands of people get eye exams and glasses every year.

The best thing you can do to reduce careless errors is to slow down. Take you time. After each question, pause and take a deep breath.

Next, check your work. Do not check it right away. If you made a mistake you will probably make the same mistake. Go through the entire test. Then pretend you are starting over and take the test again. Compare your 2 set of answers. Go back and recheck any that you got a different answer.

Go through one more time. This time read a question, read your answer, then ask yourself "Does what I have down answer the question and does it make sense?"

You might also want to consider relaxing techniques so you will be calmer while taking the test.

Hey! I do this sometimes too. First of all, one thing to suggest is slow down. I am like you and if I know the information, I zoom through it because I am confident I know the answers. But then I start skimming the answers instead of reading the whole thing and I miss important details. Another thing is to ask, if you have a question, ask your teacher. I dont do that a lot, but if its important i will. But ya, i hope this helps you!
