doesnt look to good. =[

(I'm a 10th grader)
Acad GPA(9-12):3.25/2.9167(Weighted/Non-Weighted)
Total GPA(9-12):3.43/3.1875

Credits 80(230 to Graduate)

Class rank:275/1047 (26%)
10-12 rank:376

*Ranked by weighted academic GPA

Question though what do colleges look at?Weighted or non weighted GPA?And besides the obvious...what do YOU think I should do.(like classes and other stuff)I've been in the same club for awhile now and I think I'll stay until I graduate. My friends just tell me to prep for the SAT and hope I score high to balance my poor GPA.I took 2 honors classes last year and I'm taking a AP and H this year.I'll be taking 4 AP classes next year.I took summer school this year and last year and plan on taking it the remaining two years on easy classes (to salvage my GPA)

Over the summer I have a choice. I can either take a summer long course in Algebra II so that I will be able to take pre-cal in Junior year and Calculus in senior year (at the moment I won't be able to) or I can take a 3-week long trip to France and stay in a persons's home ther, take classes(in French), go on excursions, and basically immerse myself in their culture. The goal of the trip is to prepare for the AP exams. Which should I do, because I can't do both? Which do you think would be more beneficial to my education?

I desperately want to become a Foreign Exchange student to Japan, the first semester of next year. (Aug.-Jan.).

By the departure time I would have 1 1/2 years of Japanese.

I have 112 hours of community service.

I am an honors student who hasn't failed to get Honor roll for all of High School.

I would miss the first semester of my Junior Year, but that is meaningless for me.

My japanese teacher said she would write a letter of recomendation for me.

I already spoke with my guidance counselor and representatives at CCI. Issues with credits have been resolved. People at CCI said it is not a problem I am not a US citizen.

Basically, I'm worried that because I'm not a citizen, CCI may be reluctant to accept me.

Does anyone know my chances of being accepted?
Should I get my hopes up?

Thanks in advance

I'm a grad student and do a lot of online classes. I would think that people who are also at the same education level would be able to spell correctly and would be careful about their grammar. We do turn in lots o papers and I would think that most of them, if they are even being read by the instructor, would fail or get very low grades.
That said, shouldn't it be starting with Kindergarten? These kids are doing themselves an injustice but since they are kids, don't the parents have the responsibility to see that they are doing well? What about the teachers? Shouldn't they be checking the work and promoting excellence in students?
