A review of literature is usually part of an essay (usually at the beginning) where the author states previous research that has been conducted on that topic. For example, I recently wrote a paper about ESL students and e-learning. Before I wrote about the research study I wanted to produce, I talked about former research that had been done on the same (or a similar topic), so I looked up a lot of sources and found out that many studies had already been done on ESL students using Internet-based learning, like a study on a group of high schoolers in Hong Kong who emailed another writing class in Indiana. The researcher wanted to see if the exercise was useful in helping the Hong Kong youth learn how to write English better - it did.
Oh, I just had to edit this when I read your question again. I think you may be talking about something a little simpler! OK, probably at your level (primary and secondary education) the teacher may ask students to do a "review of literature" when s(he) really means that s(he) wants you to write a summary or book report.
However, if your teacher is trying to prepare the class for college, then refer to the first part of my answer.

A review of literature is something required in a research paper. It simply means that you have researched the topic you are writing about and addressing some of the current topics, ideas related to it. It is a chapter in a dissertation, or master's thesis.

I might need to agree that you simply have to be extra distinctive. As has been recounted, there are hundreds upon thousand of peer-reviewed papers. You’ll uncover that plenty of them are to be had from the National Academy of Sciences, the Royal Academy, Nature Magazine, Science Magazine and many others. If you'll be able to, please upload a few extra main points, principally if there’s some thing in exact you’re watching for. In the intervening time, assess out the hyperlinks furnished by means of different answerers and seek on-line for the assets recounted above.
