Over the summer I have a choice. I can either take a summer long course in Algebra II so that I will be able to take pre-cal in Junior year and Calculus in senior year (at the moment I won't be able to) or I can take a 3-week long trip to France and stay in a persons's home ther, take classes(in French), go on excursions, and basically immerse myself in their culture. The goal of the trip is to prepare for the AP exams. Which should I do, because I can't do both? Which do you think would be more beneficial to my education?

I'd take the trip to France. For one, you never know when an opportunity like that will come along again. You'll gain so much more life experience from the trip than you would in a summer math class. Is there a possibility that you could double up on math your Junior year (Algebra II your 1st semester & pre-cal your 2nd)? If not, I'd still take the trip to France. You can always take Calculus in college.
You should let us know what you decide to do. I don't know you, but I'm excited at the prospect that you'll get to go to France. :)

GO TO FRANCE!!! You can always take your calculus courses later, but going to France and learning not only to speak French like a native (which will be somewhat different from classroom French), but getting a different look at the world, and seeing the US from a foreign perspective, etc, etc, are growth opportunities you just shouldn't pass up. Right now it might seem like your AP courses are the most important things in the world, but they won't matter a bit in 10 years. If you go to France, you will remember it for the rest of your life. Good Luck!!

I think a summer long course in Algebra II seems boring.
Do you really need to take Pre-Calc your Junior year?
If you absolutely need that class in order to graduate and/or get into the college of your choice, I would definitely consider taking it now, while you can.
If you don't need it and would be fine with taking Algebra II next year, then by all means, go to France.
The others are right, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I think you should stick to going to summer school and Algebra II. It's good to stick to the education you started with, it would be a lot faster and a lot easier, than traveling to France, attempting to learn a new language. Because it takes a few years to. You are becoming a junior next year right? Before you know it, you'll be a senior and then graduating. If you still want to go to France after that, go ahead. And you'll find that sticking it out at your high school was worth it.

A trip to France is a once in a lifetime experience! Don't pass it up! Also you will learn loads while you're there compared to just taking a summer class.

i'm a proponent of religious education for little ones. and that i maximum genuinely don't think in that 2-worlds bull. If there's a God, He made the completed worldwide. What could be perceived is what you instruct them. who's Jesus, what did He say, His Resurrection, His Coming back...that's what I instruct. St Paul says that if Jesus isn't risen your faith is in ineffective. in case you don't know Jesus is risen, you have no longer have been given faith. straightforward as that, yet per reality. You look touching on 3 Theosophy or different. and what's this " worldwide of countless imagined opportunities" -- appears like extra bull. i don't know all and sundry -- no longer a soul -- who even remotely suits your description. you do no longer point out any creeds, any morals, no longer even any religious practices. base line : i do no longer decide for my childrens becoming up such as you. With religious education they're going to have a real sure something to settle for or reject. Your depiction is organic smoke.

Go to France, especially if it's for AP credits. If you're not getting AP credits in calculus, it will make no difference because you'll take it in college anyway.

Depends on what you are planning to do with your education and which would be more beneficial. When are the AP exams? Couldn't you go to France the next summer ? :o)

well it all depends what you want to do with yourself. If your looking for something math related than you should look into the math course. Otherwise go to France, you can always just take calculus in college.

Both would be beneficial, but I would say go to France, because you get the added bonus of life experience, beyond the classroom benefit.
