You should start laughing at the students who make fun of you.

I honestly think that students who laugh at their teachers, are showing big signs of disrespect. It is your classroom and therefore you need to establish some ground rules.
Start handing out micro essays to students who continue to disrupt your class and the learning for everybody else who is paying attention. Give them topics that they will have to research and have it due the next day. Set up detentions, anything that will enforce discipline and respect in the classroom.

It could also be that you are inadvertantly doing something that they find funny. i.e the classic chalk on the ***..if you want to take a more kider appraoch then ask them whats so funny. you can also set up a frienship 'circle' where the first fve minutes of class you discuss jokes..and current events..it's a good way of breaking the class in..

Why do they laugh at you?

If you can't spell, as an English teacher I knew of in 8th grade couldn't, either learn to or don't write words if you don't know how to spell them.

If you make stupid jokes, stop.

If they draw pictures of you or make jokes about you, it's called detention. They'll still laugh at you, but less and not in front of you.
