I can't believe how many people seem to not practice critical thinking to any extent. They just go by rules, what people tell them and so on. Do you think that there should be more emphasis on logic, analytical thinking and being able to detect the tricks (logical falacies) that people like politicians and salesmen use to convince people of something?

I am considering moving back to NZ to teach; however my credentials are not from NZ and I have no prior experience with the education system in NZ. Can anyone provide some details on what sort of things would be taught for the following course titles at Level 7&up: Social Studies, History, Homeroom (7+). Specifically, is social studies primarily politics or ??, is history at level 7up mostly NZ or world history, and is homeroom an actual class?
