I just started school this week and I already feel overwhelmed. Homework and tests make things very stressful. i also have dance classes three times a week and guitar lessons. I don't know if i have time to practice guitar, study for school, and take dance classes. what should i do. how can i not feel so overwhelmed.

The structure of our public education system (K through High School) has not changed much since my grandparents' time, yet the world is very different. I'd like to hear from educators and others on what the goal(s) of public ed should be. Is it to instill values common to good citizenship? Is it to provide everyone with a minimum common knowledge level? Is it to provide everyone with the capability to earn a living and be economically productive?

It seems to me that unless we first decide what the purpose of education should be, other questions about curriculum and the role of teachers and parents in their children's education will be left as directionless issue-based fodder.

I am probably going to get shot down for this question but here goes

I was just wondering what people think of teaching kids in school sex education. I am asking this because out of interest I was looking through my little sisters info pack for her new school in September and there is a dedicated lesson for Teen and Sexual Health Education. I don’t know if this is a subject they teach in all schools and I just wondered what people think about teaching 11 and 12 year olds this particular lesson

My thoughts on this is that if you teach a child about sex you make them interested in it and more likely to try at an early age. I think sex ed’ causes more teen pregnancies then it prevents and is responsible for wrecking more young lives then it actually saves. You give a child a gun and say hear you can hold this but dont play with it, do you think they are just going to hold it, no, they are going to experiment with it play with it and BANG off it goes, I think its the same with sex education. The child is given a tool that they are to young to understand fully and they play with it, experiment with it, BANG there is, and STD and then next time there is a teenage pregnancy

That is my thought on it and I was just looking for other people’s views

The things learned in high school are idiotic. There is no way that any of it will ever apply to the real world. It's just basically a prison for teens. You're forced to go and you're not allowed to leave. All it does is stress kids out. Anyone else think so?

ok i'm 16 years old,
and i'm currently in a rock band.. that doing very well, but i have to go to school, and i want to contribute all my time into my band... but school keeps getting in the path. i mean why do i have to go anyway? what dose rock and school has to do with one another?
i see if i wanted to be an doctor or lawyer, but that's not the case.... i want to be a rocker, and i think school is just a waste of time for me.
what's the right thing to do?
