I understand your passion for music. I perform and write my own songs. It is an extremely difficult way to make an actual living. I have never tried that, but have many friends who have. (2 of the many garage bands I went to high school with in the 60's have continued to perform and make a living at it.) I also have a nephew who is a successful screenwriter. Performers, like athletes, work long and hard before less than 1% make it professionally. Those who do, usually work at something else to support themselves over those long years. Many bands have very brief success and there are long, long lists of "One Hit Wonders". This does not a career make... You need your education to be able to make a decent living and to become the best You that you can be (no one enjoys a person with narrow knowledge for very long). As a musician, you need to pay closer attention to your education. It will give you the knowledge you need to manage the business end of your career. It will also give you the tools you need, and seemingly haven't mastered yet, to write your own music and to learn about, and from, music icons you admire. Trust me, all young people question the need for formal schooling, too many find out too late that they actually did need it. By all means, persue your music. If you are truly a musician, it will always be a huge part of your life. Stay in school and become an empowered young man or woman. No matter what path you follow knowledge is the key to the door at the end.

Home school is a good idea, but what happens, when you don't hit it big or something like that, I'm just starting my band, and i know i have to go to school so just in case something goes wrong where i cant play anymore i can do something that will Gert me money to survive, the right thing to do is try to get through school with good grades and stuff that every teacher will tell you to do, but dint drop your band. Make a schedule and time your days so that ou have enough time for both, and a social life. and remember ROCK ON!

well, bands don't always make much money, unless you are 16 and in a "boy band" or Hanson or something... (and look how that turned out!)

An education will give you the opportunity to get employment to hold you over until your band takes off.

You could consider homeschooling or online schooling - which will fit both needs -- getting your diploma and allowing you the freedom to work on your music at the times you set.

When you are rich and famous, you will have a lot of people trying to run your career and manage your money. In many cases those folks will ruining your career and blowing your cash. Better you should have an education so you can protect yourself.

Well considering you need to be able to spell and read in order to be a musician, I think school should be important to you. So, rock does have to do with school.

You need your education, just in case you dont make it as a rock star. Take your GED, you are old enough to take it.

If you stay in school, you can find a back up career. Just incase your music career doesn't work out. I recommend that you stay in school.
