Some helpful advice I received:

1) "Let Go and Let God"

2) "Take things one step at a time."

Another helpful tip, follow the guidelines listed in A.A./Alanon 12 steps, maybe attend some support group meetings, where you'll find yourself liking yourself more...as others find things in you they like.

Best wishes to you, hang in there!

I suppose you are talking about your study habits? Or other behavior problems? Every day in class: sit up straight, open your book or paperwork, get out a notebook and pen and be prepared when the teacher begins the lesson. Write down the main words, page no., any hints that she may give about tests or how to do homework or projects. Ask questions if you don't understand. If you are too shy wait until class is over, but always ask! If you didn't understand it is likely that other kids didn't either and you would be doing them a favor if you did ask. When you are at home get a snack and go straight to a quiet place where you will not bothered. Do all of your homework, every subject. Then you study. Use your notes and read the parts about every highlighted or italicized word and especially the words you wrote down that the teacher said. Go to the end of the section you are in and try to answer the questions in your head. If you can't, then go back and reread that part. Go to the questions and write the answers. You will be surprised at how quickly you can do this after you do it for a few days. It will become habit and you will feel so much better about yourself! Now you should know the lessons for the day and some probably for the next day. Be tough and stick to it. You may be being hard on yourself because you just started to try to change. If you are having other problems talk to a parent, grandparent, teacher, counselor,pe coach or someone you can trust. They will help you or get help. I would be happy to talk to you if you want to. Contact me anytime. You can do it!

You should have been more specific about what you're trying to change. If it's school then you should seek guidence from a councelor or join a support group. I'm a college student and I was barely making it through until I joined TRIO. It's a student support service, and my grades went from C's and D's to all A's. If It's your personal life I'll have to agree with one of the other people who answered you. You need to seek guidance from GOD. If you're not the church type, bu you feel like something's missing or not quite right, it's that. Finally, no one can teach you to change you have to want to change, and when you truly want to change it won't be a task it will feel natural and right.

In reality we can't change ourselves Even Apostle said. "The things I want to do that I can't do. The things I hate to do that I do. What a wretched man I am. " Without divine intervention we can't change ourselves..
