I remember seeing it on a television special. A small child read the word "bubble", and others from flash cards, while another saw a flash card reading "wave" and he began to wave. Although there attention spans are low, they say the prime time for youth to learn is from infancy to toddler years. By kindergarten most of that deep-rooted potential is passed by. Any information on it would be grand.

My sister decided to put my nephew in pre-school this year instead of kindergarten b/c he won't be 5 until after school has started. I have asked a lot of people about this and have received answers both ways. He is used to being around other kids, he has cousins in literally every grade in one of the local Elementary schools, and his baby-sitter always had a lot of kids at her house. My sister is worried about him not having the social skills, but I just don't agree. Kindergarten is for getting used to raising your hand before speaking, learning the basics, and getting used to school. I'm afraid he will be bored in pre-school and not do well b/c of that. He already knows the alphabet, can write, can count to 100, knows his shapes(even pentagon, octagon, trapazoid, etc). Any input?

im looking for a job as a nanny, im fully qualified and police checked but the first 3 interviews i went on were unsuccessful because of my age ( just turnt 19 ). last week i went on an interview that i thought it went really well, the family were nice and the kids seemed to like me. i have been asked back next week to do a trial day. i have never been on a trial day before so am not really sure what to expect. i REALLY want this job, i think if i don't get it i am going to give up on nannying and just get a job in a nursery.

any advice greatly appreciated. should i prepare some activities to do with the children? will i be left in charge of the children or will the mum be there with me? what can i do to make sure i definitly get the job? the children are aged 22 months and almost 4, they are both girls.

I want a few small children I will be volunteering with at the local YMCA to touch a patch or a button on some basic objects; and have it connected to a computer or PDA that plays the sound. For instance, a child would touch the button on a coffee mug; and would directly hear the sound "coffee mug"? Where can I buy these things inexpensively?
Thanks
