I remember seeing it on a television special. A small child read the word "bubble", and others from flash cards, while another saw a flash card reading "wave" and he began to wave. Although there attention spans are low, they say the prime time for youth to learn is from infancy to toddler years. By kindergarten most of that deep-rooted potential is passed by. Any information on it would be grand.

It was not hooked on phonics. The program was something involving the Dr.'s name who created it.

Phonics. Hooked on phonics.

Alphabet + sounds of those letters = syllables.

Syllables + more syllables = words and

strings of words = sentences.

Ehm..
There are numerous documented benefits and advantages of teaching children to read early on, and teaching them to reading using phonics and phonemic awareness instructions. It is clear that early language and reading ability development passes great benefits to the child as they progress through school at all grades, and that early language and reading problems can lead to learning problems later on in school.

You do want the Glenn Doman books, and go to www.childbrain.org for a community of parents around the world doing this program with kids. There is so much more they can learn, including true quantity recognition. That's where you will get all the information you want, and then some. :-)
