Answer is A 11/10. Here is the logic
I/2 + 3/ 5 = 5/10 + 6/10 = 11/10

To add the two fractions, you need to make the denominators of both fractions equal. i.e. Find the Lowest common mulitple for both denominators. So the L.C.M of 2 and 5 is 2*5 = 10.

Then both denominators should be 10, so multiply 2 with 5, the numerator (1) should also be multiplied by the same number that is 5.

For the next fraction you need to multiply 5 with 2 to make it become 10. Hence you multiply the numerator (3) with 2.

Thus the new equation will be as follows:
5/10 + 6/10
Adding these fractions gives you 11/10.
Therefore the answer is A.

this is because
1x5/2x5 + 3x2/5x2

That isn't a word problem thou! A word problem would be Jean has 1/2 of a pie. Sarah has 3/5 of a pie. How much pie do they have in all?
