The children are 21/2-31/2 years old. I tried to do a quick circle time but it started getting out of control. There are 15 kids in my class. It's a co-op so there are 4 parents working each day. I know I need to do lots of movement - do you have any tips for this age group?
( Since it's a co-op I have parents watching me every moment and it can be embarrasing to have a group get out of control) Please don't send rude comments like"You shouldn't be teaching, blah, blah blah, I have been teaching for years and love it, but it has always been 4-5 year olds.

It has lines like

"I am happy as I can be
That I am no one else but me."

&

"Nobody has my eyes, my nose,
my hair, my eyes. Or even my toes."

I teach a class at my church for 4 year olds. We have a 4 year old girl with Downs Syndrome who spends half of her time between the 3 and 4 year old classes during the night. The children do not know what to think about her and call her "baby" since she is half their size. For many "mary" is the first handicapped child they have met.
I want to find a book, video, or anything to help the kids understand that even though Mary is different from them, she is still the same. I do not want these children to be afraid, or end up staring at people in stores when they are older, or worse feeling like it's ok to make fun of people who are handicapped in some way. I need help explaining to the kids in an age appropriate manner and would appreciate any suggestions.

I'm thinking of cute things like "let's get into mouse-mode" or assigning a "sh-sh-sheriff" each day to help the rest of the class keep a bit more quiet.

im asking what you would do if u were a a childcare teacher or r what would you do in this situation to help the children prepare for change.

Imagine next month the centre is moving down the road to brand new premises.
What are the strategies would you develop and implement to help the children prepare and cope for change.

They would only let him go 3 days a week and then they wouldn't even let him try to stay for nap time. He is the same age as all of the other children. And he has an Aid that is just for him. Is this discrimination?

I wanted to know if you believe preschool is worth your child(ren)s time, your money and if its all cracked up to be. I have 3 children. My first went to a preschool for 2 weeks. I pulled him out when I did a surprise visit to find the kids running around while 2 teachers where ignoring the children. Not to mention I found out that the "teachers" did not have a degree when the director said they did. I never put him back in another and he is now in 5th and is advance classes and reads at a 9th grade level. My second child never went to preschool, needed a little help with reading in school. Now in 2nd he makes A&B's and reads at a 3rd grade level. My last child went to a preschool for 9months, 3days a week for 4 hours a day. It was a Christian preschool that everyone highly recommended. Going into 1st she has to take a reading class, continue with speech and I got her tested for learning disabilities which came back negative. So tell me, what’s your opinion or experience.

I have a four year old who really wants to go to school, but we can't afford it. I tried getting her into universal pre- K but it is all filled up. She is sad that everybody is going to nursery school and she isn't. We do the library things, but she is really ready for kindergarden but a year too younge. Does anybody know of any free or very low rates on pre-school?

Our children are growing up in a country where the dominant language (Russian) is different than that which we speak at home (English). Our 4-yr old is conversant in both languages, and we are now at home learning letters and sounds (Eng). She will be attending preschool and will be learning the same in Russian. I have been told, however, that we should focus on reading skills in her dominant language, and then, only when she understands the process of reading, add the Russian. Your experiences, opinions, please? Is it really more likely that she will have trouble decoding if she is exposed to two (at some points similar) alphabets simultaneously?
