In a society obsessed with grades, please give me possible examples which inculcate a habit of lifelong learning and spirit of enterprise in students?

I'm a student-intern in the biggest oil refinery for a major oil company. My internship will last for 6 months, as part of my final year for my diploma. Since i took civil & environmental engg, i was posted under the environmental department, and then they told me the projects i have to do for the time i'm here.They made me take a compulsory course so that i can be allowed clearance to the refinery for my project.
The sad thing is, my supervisor went on maternity leave, a week after i came in, and i was put under another person...which is another blow coz he's always busy, with meetings and all... so i had to do 'desk duty' but i'm a hands-on kind of person...i got nothing at hand to work with..he didn't tell me where i can get the information i need, and when i ask him, he'll say 'i'll get back to you later' which he didn't till today...i feel out of place and half of the time, i'm 'lost' and i don't think they take me seriously (being 19)
so anyone have any advice regarding this?

I made copies of everything that was mailed to me. I also called the long distance phone number on the letter and received a recording that basically said what the letter said. I figure for the sake of myself and others that I would let you know if I do in fact come to realize that this is a scam, I will be sure to TELL EVERYONE so they don't make the same mistake. They did make certain comments about how they would pay you and the specific tax forms they would give you that sounded quite legit. If it does what they said they would do, I will be sure to tell everyone that as well.

I have a bacherlors. I just started a position as an advisor/counselor and I really like it. However to be a full time counselor I need a masters. Which i was planning on anyway so this is a good opportunity. However I need a good school that provides a counseling program. Also any recommendation on either school counseling or social work counseling?? and any masters programs available online that is reputable?? thanks alot

I want to do a student exchange but i dont know which one is best. I have researched Kobe university and found it to be great for foreigners and it has a number of clubs you can join but Im still not quite sure if its the best one for me. I want to do a teaching program, and eventually come back to Japan and teach secondary students. Any advice would be great.

OK, i was just wondering -- what is the name for those words after someone's name? For example, let's say the person's name is John Doe. But when you see thier name they have an A.A., B.S., M.D., PhD., D.C. , B.A., DIP., L.M.T. , or whatever they're skilled in. So when you see the name it looks like:

John Doe, B.S., M.D., L.M.T.

What do those stand for and what do you call them collectively?
