"Granted"

It means appreciate all that you have now because you never know when you will lose it.

"Granite"

This means never trade anything for a peice or granite stone because that **** is dirt cheap.

Granted, not granite... "Never take anything for granted" means that you should always appreciate everything because you'll miss it once it is gone... Cherish the time you have on this earth and with people and places and things because things change quickly, people die, you don't want to look back and regret not doing something or not spending time with someone while you had the chance. So next time your family wants you to spend a night at home with them don't fight it, because for all you know it could be the last time... Appreciate everything, don't overlook anything...

First, it's not granite (that's a type of rock), it is granted.

Generally it is used to say, don't just assume that is the way it (things) will be. Do some digging and make sure that everything is in place the way you expect it will be and everyone is following through and doing their part.

It's actually one of the 100 most mispronounced words in the English language. It really is take for granted not granite, although thats what it sounds like.

take for granted,
a. to accept without question or objection; assume: Your loyalty to the cause is taken for granted.
b. to use, accept, or treat in a careless or indifferent manner: A marriage can be headed for trouble if either spouse begins to take the other for granted.
