I'm a Junior right now in High School. I'm fed up with school and I'm fed up with bullies.

I don't want to drop out of school. Instead, I want to be home schooled. Also, I've ben thinking about College. I don't want to go to any college. My Aunt told me that I could do my College work online.

Also, I could have Driver's Ed online too. I don't even need to leave the house. Yes, I do want to get my Diploma, but I could get it in the mail? Won't I be able to get my homework/classwork in the mail? I hate school and I feel it's just a waste of my time. I can't recall one thing I've learned today. 8 hours a day/5 days a week is a real pain the the a-s-s.

Why is the phrase 'social skills' the first protest of public school defenders? What social skills do you learn at school that you don't learn elsewhere? It's not like homeschooled kids never interact with another human until they go to college.

Is learning to fight, swear, gossip, talk bad about authority, question your parents' morality, etc. important enough to you to force your kids into a failing school system?

If you have other reasons to public school, that's fine, but why criticize homeschooling with the social skills question?

Hi i am girl who is homeschooled. I am the youngest one in my family and my mom does my schooling we use ABeka system for that. I like it most of the time i have friends from church and my best freind homeschooled to but sometimes it gets bad with just me and my mom and i get bored with just studying with her all the time and she give me lots to do!! Not just schooling but Bible study too i do with her but i like that better. Shes strict about things tho and sometimes i get frustrated with haveing to do stuff all the time and then i end up getting her mad cos i dont listen to her and shell say im acting up and i have to stand in the corner until i can do better or she takes me to my bedroom and spanks me for not minding her. Is she just strict like old fashioned or other family like that to???

I get this question pretty much every time someone asks me what school I go to I say. "I am homschooled." Then the other person says something like. "Wow, cool! I guess you have friends right, it must be hard to make them since you homeschool. eh?"

I hate this comment and/or question!!! Its SO EASY to make friends when homeschooling. You just have to go out and do things you like to do. Sign up for homeschooling group in your area. Join clubs or voulenteer at a animal shelter.

Does anyone get this question too? How do you answer it without going up the wall!???!?

I am thinking in my son's future education. He is 3 years old. I am seriously thinking in homeschooling him. The reasons: avoid the atmosphere of public schools. I will be able to control of what he is learning. Flexibility schedule. However, what about the social life? Would clubs, piano classes, sports be enough to develop his social skills? Could anyone that have experienced this situation advise me, please? It sound like a simple an easy question but it is not when you are thinking about your child's future and what's the best for him. He is the only one btw.

Thanks a lot

At the moment my mother is home-educating me. I went into Year 10 in September of this year (am currently fourteen years old) and am going to take my GCSEs in 2008. At the moment we're just studying for all the appropriate work needed. My main question is, I want to go to Art school when I'm 18 - but want to do A levels as well as 5 or 6 GCSEs. You need an art and design A level specifically to get into the art school as well as a portfolio of your art work etc. Anyway, I just wanted to know, after I have done the GCSEs in 2008 do we just then do the appropriate coursework for the A levels? By the way I asked about this before, and just got really condescending replies from people saying that I had no friends (which I do) and that I should go back to school because they would teach me better! My mother has been artist for several years and teaches me very well! I'm also thinking about going to art classes maybe, or maybe a private art tutuor for a while.

Thanks!

Do you find it annoying when home schoolers (not all) are always seem to be bragging about how much smarter they are then public/private schoolers, and how much more well mannered and respectful they are just because their home schooled.

I don't know about you but that really annoys me.

And I'm gonna say this again, not all home schoolers do this but a lot do.

Since my earliest days, I have been a weird loner. I was a weird loner when I was born, a weird loner in school, and a weird loner out of school. I have obscure interests and most other people piss me off or tire me out quickly. I spend plenty of time with other people, but I'm just not a people person.

People think it's because I'm homeschooled. It's not.

I don't like my entire system being judged by my own personality. I'm not a bubbly girly girl, I think pop music is sh*t and I read Anna Karenina because I want to.

I have nothing against school kids in general, just the ones that won't get off my back. They like taunting me.
"Hey, how are the lunches in HOME school?"
"Is your teacher hot? Interested in a little company?"
"Hey, genius, factor this. 2x+x^2+2."
"Do you ever go outside?"

I ignore them to the best of my ability, and what they're saying doesn't really bug me. The best answer is none at all, and all that. It's annoying, though. How can I make them go away?

And schoolers don't have to pay homeschool taxes?

If you don't use the system it's unfair to have to pay that chunk of change to something when the state could easily have a homeschooling fund; something to support needy homeschooling families. Give em books, computers, et cetera.

It seems really unfair that my family has to pay in to a system that does absolutely nothing for us. I have nothing against supporting society at large -I support welfare programs I don't need- but it seems remarkably one-sided.
