i was in a private highschool 9 & 10th grade and during the 2nd semester of my soph. year i failed horribly with only getting 5.5 credits out of a complete 7 for the year. I'm a junior and now i go to a public high school down the street and since public schools do not count religion credits i am stuck at a 4.5 credits i earned last year. I am not doing bad at all, i have A's and B's and i turn in all of my homework mostly. The teachers are splendid and in my case a lot better than the teachers i have had my two years at a private school. The students, well it's your typical 21st century styled kids, there's different cliques of course. Last year i had a bunch of friends, now i'm sitting in the back corner with my headphones in and writing down things. My mom isn't in the idea of me being homeschooled because she doesn't feel like i can do something on my own because of what had happened last year. I don't have a lot of money now so if anyone knows something high effective please share

Hello. I am a high school student but I'm getting my high school diploma through an online high school. I heard that many people look down on people who were homeschooled and it is hard for them to get jobs, is that true?

I was wondering what it costs on average to get someone to come and provide schooling for my step-daughter.

If it makes a difference, she's 6, and we live in SC?

She has a problem paying attention in school and so I'm thinking of having her home schooled, and I can't do it because I'm in school myself.

I don't understand why some people refuse to see the facts.
They say that my children can not have social skills because they are home schooled, so i explain all the activities they are involved in like bowling, soccer, gymnastics and scouts, where they socialize with countless amounts of children of all ages. They also have friends in the neighborhood,so there are countless sleepovers and play dates. Even after being told all of this there are people who still keep playing the same old "socializing" record. Why is this?

My wife home schools our boys based on "The Well Trained Mind" - basically, classical education. However, she finds herself fighting with them more than teaching them, and I was wondering if anyone had found some resource(s) that offers some different learning activities. Presently covering approx 2nd-3rd grade material. My hope is that we might engage the boys interests so that they want to learn as opposed to viewing it as a chore to get Mommy off their case!

Can your child remember his tables quickly? I believe the speed is very important, but they tend to take a long time working them out. My son was the same.

If there was a resource center for homeschoolers would you go there while on vacation? If it specifically sponsered trips for homeschoolers and was affordable would you go?

Please feel free to add anything else that you would like to see for homeschooling on Maui.

Maybe this is the wrong place to ask this but I would like to find a resource (text / video / DVD) which gives a general overview of world history.

Yes, there are several which SAY they do but all the ones I've found are very Europe - North America focussed with very little about the history of Africa, Asia, South America and the Pacific.

I am debating wheather or not to homeschool my children. They arn't school-age yet but they will be soon. What are the pros and cons of homeschooling? Or would a montossori school be better? Private Religious schools are out since I am not religious, and public schools are only a last resort. Any opinions?

If you are what kinds of activities are you planning?

How many people approx. will be there?

If you are notplanning on it, this is a fantastic opportunity to show how strong the homeschool community really is. There is still time to organize one in your area. You can even do it at your own home. WE have organized one at our local roller rink and then will have skating after. check out this site for more info http:/charlotteswebbarr.com/
