I want to participate in an accelorated program for getting my diploma. The problem is, my dad wants to see my walk for graduation. Is there any way I can go to school and get my diploma early, but still walk for graduation? Does anyone know of a way I can take homeschooling classes and still go to high school in order to catch up? I am behind due to hurricane katrina. First, your dad is right in wanting to see you walk for graduation. It is a right of passage and its a moment that makes parents proud, it is a completion. In your case its probably even more important because of the circumstances of the hurricane. Its a symbol that you overcame it.

That being said, talk to your local high school , they are aware of the situation. Most accelerated programs offered by high schools do allow you to participate in graduation. There are summer school and night school classes, as well as online classes. Talk to your high school guidance counselor as to which they accept.

I'm sure with the issue of the Hurricane that the school will certainly be accommodating to your situation. I for one graduated early, and I still went back and walked with my class.

There must be some kind of testing as well that they can provide if you don't want to get done early, that should show where your placement is at in correlation with your grade now. Some schools will provide you with extra assignments to do at home with parental help that can get you caught up as well. I wish you luck with whatever you decide to do. =)

You could do a lot of studying at home by yourself and if you do think you need a lot of additional help you could advertise for a private tutor to help you out with subjects that you are week at and that will perhaps help you alot.
