I mean if you're a parent you probably won't be aware of this but those closer to my age will have seen it. :P You know how a LOAD of people TiiPe LiiKe DiZzZZZZZzzZz U nO? Well I've seen a bunch of people posting on here saying that "public school gives children a better education", well... I'm not sure I fully agree with that. I mean, of course, lots of kids might get a better education in there, but let's face it.. I mean look at today's society; most don't. But anyway. Thoughts? And btw I just wanna say that I don't wanna start an argument over whether public school or homeschool is better, as that really isn't what this post is about. But like, most parents don't even KNOW what their kids are doing. :S

I need a quick assignment for my son to do on the Tea Act, Stamp Act, etc. Does anyone have any ideas? I am also willing to let him do a project as long as it consists of household items, and is somewhat small. We don't have time right now to run out and buy things.

By the way, he is homeschooled. So I am the one who gives him the assignments, not real teachers.

I am a home schooled preson, and have never been inside a public class room my whole life. I'm not saying I regret this in any way, I just what to know your thoughts on the matter. Like, if you send your child to public school, Why do you do so? and if not, Why not?

I am enrolled with James Madison High School and so far have enjoyed the program. I talked to an admission counselor at Univeristy of Florida and she said aslong as I take the SAT and ACT and do well I will have no problems being accepted.
Has anyone used their diploma to go to a State University and not just a community college? Also will this hinder me from going to medical school after college?

I'd love to get any feedback I can from JMHS students or former JMHS students. Also does anyone know if there is a discussion group or forum for JMHS students? Most of the ones I have found are not active :-(

My children are home schooled & since I am not good at some of the subjects, I tried calling the publishers to get Teacher guides, etc. They would not sell to me because I am not a teacher. I tried looking on line ( used books) & I did not see the books I need.

Can someone please help me?

I homeschool my son, so he and I are trying to figure out some projects for him to do based off of the book. We have about a $40 budget (can be a little more). Anyone have any ideas?

One idea we had is we can make the inside of a shoe box look like the island they got stranded on, then he can type up a little description of the place. How does that sound? His teacher (that we turn all the work into at the end of the week) is fairly easy to please, so we figured this would be good.

Hi, I am a recent homeschool graduate, am in college right now, and i am writing a paper on why homeschoolers are just as prepared for college both academically and socially as compared to public school students. I have plenty of personal experience to back up my thesis, but I need more than just personal experience, so I could use some input. If you are a parent reading this, why did you decide to homeschool your child in the first place, and are you involved in any homeschool groups in your area? If you are a homeschooler, do you think that you are just as capable academically and socially as public school students, and if you are a teacher readig this, if you have any experience with homeschoolers, what have been your observations concerning their academic and social skills. Do you see any difference in level of competency or ability to learn? Any answers would be appreciated, or any suggested websites to visit would also be appriciated. Thank you!!

I have never had a cell phone and don't need one except I want to have one in the car for emergencies. If I get a prepaid one, how do I pay if I use it? I don't want to pay unless I have to call 911 in the car. How does this work?

Would any of you like to share favorite online learning sites, both paid and free. I've found a few that are awesome and figure there must be more. Some of these sites even keep track of the kids progress in subjects and you can print out the reports. I love it! Thanks in advance.

I am 16 and a sophomore, and after this year in my state I'll be legal to drop out, but my mother is completely oposed to it and I don't think she'll agree to homeschool me when I quit school. Is it legal for me to homeschool myself as long as I get tested every year to make sure I'm making progress?

On doctor phil...
they were saying how home schooling is wrong. I'm home schooled and I LOVE IT!!! I've been home schooled since I was born!!! I have a Christian curriculum that is actually a grade ahead. For example: I'm in the 6th grade and the things I'm learning are on a 7th or 8th grade level. I'm VERY WELL SOCIALIZED!!! I'm in SO many activities. In my activities, there are, homeschool, private school, and public school kids. Please tell me if you approve.

Hey, I am interested in joining the United States Naval Academy. From what I have understood by reading the ifno on their site (www.usna.edu), you have to have a nomination from your local Congress Man/Woman. Is this an automatic admission? I am homeschooled, so I know it will be hard to present a record of my grades, but if I score high on my SAT, will that overcome the record problem? Also, do things like communitee service and Sports related activity help get an admission? Has anyone here been to the USNA? Any advice on how to get an admission would be appreciated. Thanks.

My step-daughter is in second grade and goes to a public school and they are proud of the "No child left behind" act and very rarely try to teach kids how to honestly work out math problems. My step-daughter has homework 3 times a week and it takes hours to get her to actually do her work herself b/c she complains that she doesn't know how to do math without the number blocks they have in school.

Last year she was bringing home notes saying she's above average in math and was able to add and subtract very well. Now, she can't even do 12+20. Both me and her father have talked to the school principle and her teacher. They keep telling us we need to help her more at home.

I have to end up spending every hour she's home after school before I go to work helping her and her father spends all his free time too. And not to mention how it's effecting our 3 yr old son. It just seems it'd be easier to have her homeschooled than re-teaching her every year. What does it take?
