I am enrolled with James Madison High School and so far have enjoyed the program. I talked to an admission counselor at Univeristy of Florida and she said aslong as I take the SAT and ACT and do well I will have no problems being accepted.
Has anyone used their diploma to go to a State University and not just a community college? Also will this hinder me from going to medical school after college?

I'd love to get any feedback I can from JMHS students or former JMHS students. Also does anyone know if there is a discussion group or forum for JMHS students? Most of the ones I have found are not active :-(

JMHS is a correspondence program in Georgia that I am using. Will this be looked down upon since it's a distance education and I teach myself?
I can't attend a regular high school so I figured this was better than a GED since it's accreditted.

Don t listen to these idiots who are all high on themselves because they went to high school and got a diploma . James Madison is accredited and accepted most anywhere . I can t tell you how many people I know that graduated high school and they really never should have . They were let slipped through because the school" s don t want the dropouts on their books . And you can use the internet as an information source while attending any school . That is what it is for . You may find some answers to a test online .But you still have to spend the time finding it and going through the answers to be sure they are correct. So you are actually going to be retaining and learning while you are doing the work . Its good to get a high school diploma but it is far overrated as proof you are smart or have any common sense. In recent years its just demanded by a lot of employers out there because of the crappy Obama economy and lack of jobs available because of his liberal high tax socialist policies. So they can ask for a degree for a job that never required it in years past .

I'm not affiliated with JMHS in any way, but here's what I've learned that may help you:

There are homeschoolers without official diplomas getting into places like Harvard. I'm sure your diploma won't be a problem for most places in the US. They care about the test results, not where you got your diploma from.

The college prep program would definitely be a better choice than the regular high school program. Even if it's not recognized as better, it will provide you with better preparation.

Your high school diploma has absolutely nothing to do with getting into medical school. They care about your college/university marks at that point, not what you did before that.

Strange, I teach at James Madison High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Anyway, most universities require you to take the SAT or ACT in addition to your diploma. My advice? Go ahead and take it...retake it if you need to. Some scholarships are only awarded based on these scores as well. In the long run, your grades in college and your personal determination will affect your admittance into medical school.

There's a James Madison High School in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. It you graduate from there you would have learned an important lesson in "street smarts" that would help you throughout life. Trust your instincts.

If it's an ACCREDITED school you should have no problems.

The SAT or ACT is important.

Medical School will look primarily at your College.

State Colleges will look primarily at your TRANSFERABLE courses in highschool. Math, Science, History, English. That's why ACCREDIATION is a factor.

YOu WILL have to take Math and English PLACEMENT exams in college and THAT will count more.
