Someone has said that not all home-schoolers grow up to be antisocial lab chemists.

I think that this is a funny statement. Some of our friends are lab-chemists and they are not anti-social. And even if they were I would say that it would be their own choice --- so what? Is someone sad that they don't have the company of the lab chemist?
Have you thought about the great strides in medicine that have been made in our world because of lab chemists? I would rather have 100 antisocial lab chemists working away at something that is interesting to them than to have a thousand students that may only be happy when partying.

My children have all been home-schooled. None are lab-chemists but they all know how to study and how to work and how to socialize ---------- funny thought tho': It doesn't take a group education to learn how to socialize. It comes natural from the day they are born.

Don't get me wrong. I think that homeschooling can be a good thing in some cases, but let's face it. Not all parents are cut out to be teachers. And not only that, but some parents who are good teachers in one subject may be poor in another. Also, there are some parents who homeschool their children, because they don't want them to be exposed to ideas and values that run counter to their own. However, sooner or later, these kids are going to grow up and they're going to find out that the rest of the world isn't like home and not everyone thinks like Mom and Dad do, so doesn't make more sense to expose them to as many types of people as possible and as early as possible?

Why do so many people that home school hate public school kids?
What makes a home schooled child better then a public schooled one?
Just because a child goes to public school dose NOT automatically mean their "BAD". And just because a child is home schooled dose not make them automatically "GOOD".
If you really think about it, MOST public schooled children are really good, well behaved kids.
Just because a few kids from public schools use drugs, smoke, have sex etc dose not mean all of them do that. Most of them are good.
I do not think all kids should be in public school, and I do not think all kids should be home schooled. For some, the public school system is better (depending on the area you live in) and for others home schooling is better. IT ALL DENPENDS ON THE PERSON!

Why do people stereotype public schooled or home schooled children?

I am a high school student currently attending a private school. I would much rather be home schooled, possibly with some online courses. The thing is, my dad doesn't support me. He's a single parent doesn't have the time to home school me on his own, and he doesn't really get the concept of online courses (he says, "you'll be the equivalent on a high school drop out if you don't have other humans educating you.") How do I convince him that home schooling is right for me and that online courses aren't all that bad? What are some good online courses I can show him? Or is he right? Should I stay in private school?

Please be patient and read! I don't know what to do! I'm desperate! I have a big problem related to school. Me and my family moved in another house in september. So obviously I changed my school, too, because it was to far away from our house. But the thing is that in the other school I moved from, my father teached there. So everyone knew I was his daughter and most of them didn't dare to say anything to me. And the teachers didn't treated me like any ordinary child, I mean... they didn't give me a small note if I didn't learn something that day, they would've forgive me and told me to learn for the next day or something like that. But when we moved withe the house and school... everything changed... Let me tell something first: I am a very shy person. But not like you imagine. No! You can't even imagine how shy I am! So it was something like that:
In the first day in my new school, I was so scared! I didn't knew how the teachers were going to be, or how the children will be.

more and more parents are choosing to send they'r kids to private and charter schools, not to mention home schooling.

i see more kids now who are illiterate, irresponsible, violent, drug and alcohol users. and they lack ambition. worst of all the parents nowadays are afraid of they'r children and let them get away with too much. the future in this country is in jepardy.

Whenever I see kids that are homeschooled, they just seem so different and out of place from the rest of society. They don't dress or act like everyone else, and they just seem "sheltered", i guess. Perhaps this is the point...their parents don't want them to be exposed to the negative parts of public schools and society..but still, many kids turn out great from public schooling (myself included). Its seems like kids might need to learn how to interact with MANY other kids and teachers daily, and learn on their own what they do and don't want to participate in, and that homeschooling prohibits this from happening. What are your thoughts? Both from homeschoolees/ers and others.

Dear Annie: Last month, my husband and I invited some friends for dinner. They brought a bottle of wine, and we served it with the meal. However, when these friends were leaving, they took the remainder of the bottle with them. Am I supposed to open the wine, or can I save it for another time? Tell me what to do, because they are coming over for dinner again. -- Thirsty in Oregon

Dear Oregon: The wine belongs to you whether or not you open it. While it is nice to serve the bottle with dinner, you are not obligated to do so. Thank your friends nicely and mention that you are looking forward to opening it at a later date. (from Korea Herald)

I understand that the friends took(brought) the bottle back ,
so now she has not the bottle, right?
Then why does she say such as "Am I supposed to open the wine, or can I save it for another time?"?
